On the second-to-last day of camp, I got my period. I didn’t have anything with me at the time, so I borrowed a pad from my bestie. I went into the bathroom to put it on, it was HUGE compared to the ones I usually wear. When my BFF came into the stall next to me, I said, “OMG, this one is huge.” But she didn’t reply! I suck the thing under the wall between our stalls…and then realized it wasn’t my best friend. It was another girl wearing the same shoes. So awkward.

omg girl! when I read your comment, i felt like i wrote it! I had the exact same "symtoms" as you! i got mine at school, but dont worry. people blow your first period WAY out of proportion! when i got mine, i was on the lunch line, and i felt a tiny little "splat" in my panty. when i went to the bathroom, i was like "what the heck? this is what everyone makes a big deal out of? WOW." it was actually kinda funny how dumb i felt for worrying so much before. : ) TIP: if your shy like me, either roll up tissue to put in ur panty for the rest of the day, or wait til their is no one in the nurse's office and then ask for a pad. just make sure you tell your mom not to tell anybody else and dont keep asking "r u okay?" cuz that is SO awkward. lolz. i suggest U by Kotex (ubykotex.com) because they come in smaller sizes for people like us instead of the big uncomfortable ones that tend to feel like a bog ol' diaper. good luck! : )

MOD This is off subject, but before you get your period, do you get some hair under your arms? Or does that come right after? I woyuld think it comes right after since you get your perid before herimornal changes happen. PS PLEASE!, answer this question-> So, I've been getting discharge for about two years now, white yellow and just now white. My chest is size 30 in bra size and I'm eleven. I get cramps for about ten seconds, then they fade, but sometimes they stay. One time my mom put on music I didn't like, then I started crying without her knowing. My mom and sis got their period at 14 but I got all the signs! Please give me an estimate of when ill get mine! Thanks GL...Please answer~!




Hey girl,

Underarm hair does usually come towards the end of puberty, so most girls develop it after their period. And also, it's really hard to say when you're getting your period because everyone's different, but with all the signs, it definitely sounds like it'll be soon! x0x0

MOD MOD MOD !!! PLZZZZ HELP! I have a medium flow i guess but at camp this week i change it every 2 hours since yesterday it leaked and i freaked out. Im so scared of it leaking
again because this is only my 3rd period and the first two were soooooo light! This might sound weird but i feel like when i sit or lay down the blood moves to whatever way is sit and since i sit in a chair most of the day wont the blood move up to past my pad?!?! Then itll leak!! Im freaking out and i am questioning a tampon?? Idk im only 12! Will it hurt? My 17 year old sis just started using them....and she said you have to get used to them and in the beggining they hurt.....IM SCARED! Help!! My mom isnt helping neither are my sisters!!




Hey girl, I'd get a heavier pad for those heavy flow days: try wearing an overnight pad, for example, or changing a lighter pad more frequently. You don't need a tampon to control it.

so I am confused. People say that you can wear a pad while swimming if you put shorts over it but like if the pad gets full of water won't it like not absorb anything else? also, When you shower does the blood like drip down you leg? thanks for the help




Hey girl,

I don't really suggest wearing a pad while swimming, only a tampon, because it can be really uncomfortable and heavy when it absorbs all that water. Also, the blood doesn't really drip down your leg when you shower, but if you feel uncomfortable, you can wear a tampon while showering. x0x0

URGENT! so I used tampons for the first time last month and have been having my period for about 5 months. I moved on because I have alot of summer vacations that I am going on soon (that include swimming) and I am now confident. I am 12, and I am going to horse riding camp in 2 weeks for a week and I am expecting my period around then. I am going with a friend that hasnt started so she doesnt understand! How can I be descrete on my period without all the 3 other girls in my room noticing? And how do I deal with my period gennerally away from home and doing lots of sports without many breaks.

omg 11soccergirl11 , I had a dream about my period too! About 4 months ago I was at my grams, and went to the bathroom with this quarter sized clear gel in my undies! My discharge is usually white, but this last year I've been having mood swings, and the other day in the car my mom changed the radio station and I almost started crying! Then I was trying to see the time in the car, and my dad put his hand right in front of the clock to text and I started crying softly, and tried to hold the burst! IDK what was wrong but I need advice, or a tip, clue, anything! xoxo

MOD MOD MOD!!!! I'm going over to my friends house this Friday. When they pick me up, we are going straight to the waterpark. But, I'm supposed to get my period on Friday!!! I'm going into middle school and my mom says that I'm too young to wear a tampon. Please HELP!!!!!




Hey girl,

Even though your mom thinks you're too young to wear a tampon, that's really the only way that you'll be covered when you're in the pool.  So, just try explaining to her that you really want to go to the waterpark, and would hate to miss going to the pool or on slides.  You could also just wear a pad in your bathing suit bottoms and then shorts on top, but be sure not to go on any slides.  Good luck! x0x0

alright this is kinda off subject but there was this one time i had my period during class so i go to the bathroom to change and i see that i have no pads so i had to ask my teach in front of the class i was sooo mortified lukily no one heard i went to the office to get a pad i was blushing when i told the nurse but it could have been worse imagine if my crush walked in as the nurse was handing me the pad i would have died right then and there

I am going into the 7th grade, and I am starting to wear a thong.... embarrassing to say...... but i know we have to change for gym and i dont know what to do, because I don't want people saying "Oh my gosh shes wear a thong!!!!" Help! Frown




Hey babe! You do not need to feel embarrassed about wearing a thong. If you want, while you're changing just keep your back to your locker, but I doubt it will be an issue.  Good luck xoxo

lol i just went swimming n i was wearing short type bottoms n i musta been like running around n stuff in the lake n my pad fell out. so i stuffed it into my shorts as best i could n told my bros i had to go pee. how embarrassing right? not to mention a couple of cute boys were watching us swim.

ok so i know how weird this probably sounds but last night i had a dream about getting my period but ive never gotten my period before also last night my discharge was extremly heavy and then today it just stopped all of a sudden is this a sign of my period??

Hey girlie, not a definite sign that you'll get your period. But it's always good to be prepared. Carry a pad around in your purse so that no matter where you go you'll be ready.

There's no rule--if you want to use a tampon in the shower, you can, and if you want to take your old one out before the shower and put a new one in after, that's totally fine too. x0x0

ok so me and my best friend sense 5th grade keep fighting...not little fights more big fights this has happened sense i found out that she likes the guy i liked for a year and a half and she knows how many times ive been hurt bc of him (not him directlly) well anyways he likes her to and weve been fighting allot latly and we just got out of a fight like 20 mins ago and know im sleeping over so we can work things out...well our fights last for soo little...do u think this is because weve been through allot together and dont wanna lose each other? and do u think our friendship is a sturdy one or a friendship that will collaps?

MOD!!! my moms making me go swimming tomorrow and i just got my period and she says im not allowed to wear tampons but i still have to go swimming??? i cant just wear nothing??? what do i do!?

 

 

Ugh. I think you should talk to your mom and tell her that it is not very clean to were a pad in a pool! That said. When I first got my period I went swimming with a pad and it didn't fall apart. Wear short-type swim bottoms.

mod mod mod i started my period back in February, and a few days ago my mom says i needed to throw my pads away that our cleaning lady found them in the middle of my room. I always throw my pads away but my cat will get things out of our trash can and toss it around (the trash can is short so that's how my cat got in it)well when my mom said i need to throw the pads away my 8 year old sister was in the car and i was humiliated. That was not even the worst part, now my sister is saying i'm lazy that i can't even throw away trash "bad trash like pads" and she'll even tease me about my period. the only reason she knows is because she was eaves dropping when i told my mom i got it. It makes me really upset and embarrased. This summer i'm going to the beach with my friend for a week and i'll be on my period and wanted to use tampons but now i feel too embarrased to pleasee please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!




If you're going to be in the water, tampons are the only way to go, otherwise your pad will swell like a diaper.
