Get down at a red, white and blue bash

Sure, we’re celebrating the good ol’ U.S. of A., but let’s be honest: Independence Day is an awesome excuse to throw an incredibly good party, right? It’s time to call up your besties and enlist their help, ‘cause you’re gonna need some major girl power to throw the swankiest soiree of the season.

Can’t-say-no invites

Facebook and evites.com are easy ways to get your buds onboard, but if you want to add some extra class, cut out the post office and hand-deliver paper invites to your guests. Keep it classy with cardstock stars cut out of metallic paper or jazzed up with some glitter and silver ‘n’ gold Sharpies.

Dress code

This bash is all about the red, white and blue, so instruct your guests to stick to the color palette. We’re thinking preppy oxford shirts for the dudes (or button downs with jeans, natch), and flowy dresses for your sweeties. Not feeling a gown? Keep it chic with sky-high wedges, dark skinnies and a festive halter-top.

Award-winning bites

Think party food with a way-classy twist. Instead of hotdogs wrapped in puff pastry, shoot for delish sausages. Sautee fresh corn with salt, pepper and some olive oil for a twist on the on-a-cob classic. And for dessert, we’re lovin’ mini ice cream sandwiches with red, white and blue M&Ms in the cookies instead of chocolate chips, or teeny cupcakes. Yum!

It’s all about the décor

Adding some silver and gold into the traditional tri-color spread will transform your party from family-ready into bud-friendly glam. Think stars, streamers and glittering centerpiece party hats.

Turn up the volume

A party’s not a party without some rockin’ music, right? Stock your stereo with a dance-ready playlist. And don’t forget some patriotic favorites! We’ll be jamming to “Country Road,” “Born in the U.S.A.” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” all night long.

What are your party plans, babes?
