How much hair down there is normal?

 
 
I know that (most) women and girls have hair on that "triangle" below your hips. But I also have hair that covers my vagina and the other parts between my legs. I really don't know if this is normal or not.

 

Yes, babe, hair down there that covers everything is totally normal. While every girl is different when it comes to how much hair she has (and what sort of hair it is), having hair in that triangular area below your hips, around your vagina and inside the outer lips, along the tops of your thighs and even toward your bum is typical. We get hair there too!

sarahrose, Shaving 'down there' is kind of normal, so if you want to do it go ahead. Most of my friends shave, or we at least talk about shaving 'down there'. And yes we do get hair from our triangle area that goes farther back, like all the way back. Its not only guys who get hair there, one of my friends who didnt start getting hair said only guys get hair from their 'down there' parts and back, but we get it too!

I shave mine off, its not easy to get to but if you can, I think a lot of shave there. And some of my friends said they started shaving even before 12 so I dont think that is an issue.

mine is also bushy and it goes down to my bum ! aha its thick dark brown curly hairs they are long to ! should i shave im only 12. i can talk about this with one of my best friends. we both dont shave down there but we both have enough hair to cover it. i know its weird but i have seen hers because im such a good friend dhe didnt mind ! should we shave or not ?xoxo please reply ASAP!xxx

I have the same thing! I feel like I wanna wax it off (that's what i do to my arm pits!), but 'down there' it's the most painful part. And if you shave, they grow back really fast Frown

ok well,i have a bit of an "itch" when it comes to "down there" and its irritating,the only time it doesent bother me is in the shower or "on the throne" :\ i think it has to do with my undies and clothes...help?

 

Try wearing loose-fitting, 100%-cotton clothing and underwear to see if its an air circulation problem. Your privates have to breathe, ya know! If the itch continues, consider seeing your doctor.

Naturally some of us have bushy hair down there and some of us dont. I am not very hairy so for me its not that bushy even when I used to let it grow but some of my friends that I have seen were very bushy before they started shaving. A lot of us shave now so it almost never gets that way anymore. We laugh about it now but some of us were so concerned how we all looked down there.

i shaved along the bikini line and it wasnt the first time, and normally it doesent hurt but this time it kind of hurt. also, i have like these kind of reddish bumps on some parts where the hair was, is that razor burn?

Are you supposed to shave down there? I'm so confused. I heard people do and people don't so im not sure whether or not you shouldnt or not. HELP!!

Just because you shave down there doesnt mean you are having sex. So many of my friends shave and I know some of them arent sexually active but I have wondered when I start going to the gyno what the doctor will think when they see I am shaved down there. Maybe they will think I am doing things with guys because its shaved but I think so many of us shave down there that it doesnt mean anything.

I have a doctor's appointment coming up for a check-up and I was wondering, after your period, do they really have to check "down there"? I'm asking because I really have never felt comfortable with them doing that and since I've already got my period, I just wanted to know. Thanks!




Hey girl, nope, they don't. That kind of doctor actually won't check down there. A gynecologist will, and you won't go to one until you're much older.

every girl at my school shaves down there and some how it got out that i dont, everyone made fun of me so i put it out there that i do, my mom doesnt so i dont know if i should and i live with my dad so im scared to shave and have him find hair in the drain. my friend knows and says i shouldn't worry about it since i dont have sex but im still concerned.

Mod Mod Mod... I shaved on the sides "down there" so no hairs showed through my bikini bottom, and now it is really itchy, and when I looked to make sure I didn't knick myself, there were all these red bumps.




Hey girl,

Itchiness and red bumps are common when you shave your bikini area, and you just have to be patient and wait for them to fade. Next time use a clean, fresh blade, shave in the same direction that the hairs are growing in, and don't put any scented lotions or oils on that area after you've shaved it. x0x0

MOD MOD MOD when i go to the pool i usually wear a bikini but u can sometimes see some hairs coming out of my swimsuit bottoms and it embarrasing how do i tell my mom and ask her what to do about it??

Assuming that I am totally comfortable with shaving all of 'down there', and not that it means anything but my mom is fine with it to, because I think she does it, but how can you get those stubborn hairs that are sometimes way down there on the back part? I sometimes use a mirror to get that area but it just seems weird to have to do it that way every time. Fortunately I am not very hairy but I like to get all of it. Is there another way or do you have any suggestions?

Hey babe! It's totally normal to shave down there! If it makes you uncomfortable you definitely don't have to. And it's totally normal to still get discharge even when you've gotten your frist period. It's totally normal if you always get it. xoxo

Well yea I know the six months before the first period thing but I have had discharge foe close to 2 years now and I still haven't had my period yet. so is it a bad sign it's been two years with discharge but without period? Also: Yes, it smells bad but is not too strong, and is white. Am I okay or is anything bad with what i've already stated???

MOD MOD MOD I need to know this:
I started getting discharge a year or two ago and it's still happening now a year or two later and I haven't had my period yet! Is something really wrong? Is this normal? I'm so confused and am starting to be a little embarrassed. Also because it smells down there, too. I can shower and within one hour of showering it will smell again. And with my discharge problem, what are some really bad things I should look for with it?

 Usually girls start to get discharge about 6 months before their first period. If it smells and is a color other than white or clear, you should go see your doctor just to make sure everything's OK. x0x0

MOD MOD MOD MOD!! i just tried shaving for the first time and i didn't use shaving cream and now when i touch my ''area'' it hurts like wear the hair was hurts and i didn't cut myself so how come it hurts when i touch it its kinda making me worry

 

 

Hey babe. That is a sensitve area. If you shave again wait a few days and put some antibiotic ointment on the area afterward or some bikini zone. It is normal for it to feel this way after the first time, but it does eventually become less.

that's a pretty good Q (& answer..) i actually asked my doctor about this ! she said during Summer time it's better to shave ur bikini line & keep the rest of the hair (even if u have too much). the hair down there protect ur inner organs form bacteria & germs from getting in .. #JustSaying Smile
