Dear MODs,
I really like this plaid trend. I don't think I'm going to try the wedge or the coat anytime soon, but I really like plaid shirts! I only own one, and it's in pastel colors (kinda going against fall.) Where can I buy a chic, neutral colored plaid blouse without breaking the bank! (It might be good to mention that I don't really live near a mall. But I do have outlet stores such as TJ Maxx and Target.)

so i was watching the disney channel show shake it up and the heat it up episode and in one scene they show this adorable pink kitty hat and I just cant find one that's in-stock or some-what similar to it and i really wanted to find it so could you please help me?

Animal hats are a big trend right now, so you should be able to find a similar one at many different accessory stores and mall stores, like Claire's or Forever 21, even if they're not pink. A Halloween store may also have something more colorful if you're really into the pink shade. You could also try searching the internet for a similar hat. So recently, I started to absolutely LOVE shopping. The thing is; is that I usually spend a lot of my money, or I buy a load of gifts for my family and friends for no apparent reason!(Not that that's a bad thing, but I'm running low on dough!) How do I save my money? Thanks MOD!




Hey girl, the best way is by not bringing money when you do shop: try window shopping or asking yourself do you really love the item you're buying? Leave the store and think on it before making the purchase: it's a great way to separate what you really need versus what you just want on whim.

I need help. My family is REALLY tight on money (we pretty much always have been and always will be) and don't spend on luxuries like clothes. My wardrobe consists of 4 plain blue and grey t-shirts, a pair of jeans, and 2 pairs of shorts. Absolutely nothing to work with. I feel bad asking for money for clothes, and I don't have a way to make money. Even when I have money my dad doesnt want me spending it on clothes because he thinks its my parents responsibility to provide for me. I don't know what to do. We only buy clothes when I've outgrown what I have or it's really faded. I go to a private school and we wear uniforms, so at least I don't have to worry about a different outfit every day, but on weekends I'm almost ashamed to go out in public. It never used to be a problem because I didn't care what people thought, but now I'm getting older and constantly feel like a poor freak. I need help.




Hey girl, you're not a poor freak. But tell your dad that now more than ever you really want to be able to spruce up your wardrobe to express who you are. Tell him you don't feel like you can express yourself: you feel bad spending his money etc. Just be honest. He may be willing to give you a little bit more if you give him a good reason to.

Hey! yeah i get that, i'm short too. really the best thing you can do is get them hemmed or cuff them, try target and look around in kids sizes. also check out cropped jeans. sometimes those are normal length on me Smile

ok i have a big prob. with my shoedrobe! you see i have a very narrow foot so i have trouble finding flats and heels that have a narrow enough back. Do any of you know of a show brand that runs narrow other than naturlizer? i am greatful to any help! THANKS!!!!




Hey girl,

They cost a little bit more than "normal" shoes, but Sperry's and Cole Haan shoes are good for narrow feet. You could also try looking online at places like Zappos, DSW, or Nordstrom and sorting their shoes by narrow sizes to see what they have. I'm not too familiar with this since I don't have narrow feet, but I think these are great places to start! Smile

A few months ago, Someone on my bus said this about a kid: "your such a... you know the word but i wont say it." so i said "a [bad word]?" and then what I said cause problems then I told my mom I didnt call him that and she said "so swear to ur brother & sister" so i did. And theyre only 6 and i luv them. Will anything happen to them?




Hey girl, no, I don't think so. I would generally avoid using that language around them though. Right now they probably don't know any better. If they repeat the word, teach them it's bad and that it shouldn't be said because it's not nice.

Okay so I wear short shorts. it's not like they're SUPER short, but they're pretty short. but it's not like it's inapropraite or anything at all! and my parents allow it! anyways my friend said WHILE i was wearing short shorts "anyone who wears super short shorts sorta like yours is sorta slutty." so basically calling me that. and it's not super short or anything, just normal short shorts! it's not even as short as the abercrombie shorts, a little longer! and she duz stuff like that all the time. like saying that a certain type of clothes is innapropriate while im wearing it. so basically indirectly telling me i look inapropriate when i DONT!!! what should i say to her???




Hey girl, I would just thank her for her wardrobe concern and leave it at that. You have every right to dress the way you like as does she. If she continues to harp on you about it, just ignore it. She's looking for a reaction. Don't give her that satisfaction.

Okay so, I decided that I was going to throw my friend a birthday party because she never has birthday parties and I love planning them. Only, I'm not quite sure what to do with this one. I'm still debating on whether or not I should have a get-together at my house or if we should go to the mall or movies or something. Also, I don't know who to invite and I don't know whether or not to invite guys. We're not really into sleepovers, so that's a definite no. I thought about having a picnic in my yard or something but I don't know if my friend would like that. Mostly though, I'm lost on how many people to invite and whether or not to invite guys. Everyone is ages 14-17. My friend is turning 15. Thanks for the help!




Hey girl,

Guys can change the whole dynamic of the group, so you kinda have to be prepared for that if you want to invite them. Your friends may feel more comfortable if it's all girls, and the party activities may run a little more smoothly if it's only girls.  A picnic sounds great, especially because it's so nice outside now, and playing kickball is a great sport to play outside and a fun party activity. A bowling party could also be fun, because everyone likes to bowl! Try inviting only her closest friends (I'd say no more than 15-20 people) so that the party doesn't get too out of hand. What should I do?

Even though it might be a little uncomfortable, you need to have a talk with her because that's the only way she's going to understand how you feel. You can tell her that you love being her friend, but sometimes you feel like she just texts you way too much and you don't like that. If you're completely honest with her and tell her that you still wanna be friends, hopefully she will understand where you're coming from. Good luck! x0x0
