While we’d love to redecorate our bedrooms every summer,
there’s one thing that tends to get in the way: budget. That’s why we’re big on
takin’ what we’ve got and transforming it into something fantastically fresh.
Think these projects might be out of your league? Think again! If we can do it,
you totally can, too.
New knobs. Who knew?
The easiest way to give your dresser a li’l oomph is to
replace the knobs. Would you believe there are stores that specialize in
selling the coolest drawer pulls you’ve ever seen? Look one up, or go hunting
through antique stores, home improvement stores or a unique boutique like
Anthropologie. A little finagling with a screw driver will have you grinning at
your handiwork in minutes.
Sand it down
For a bigger project, try hauling your furniture to the
garage or driveway. Sand down the current finish until your work surface is
nice and smooth. Then head to a hardware store to pick out a new wood stain or
paint color. Follow the directions to get the look you want, and ask for help
form the knowledgeable pros at these stores if you want some insider insight.
Let it dry, then move it back in!
Get fancy
If you really want a room that screams your name, it might
be time to pull out the big guns. A mosaic backboard or mirrored drawers can
make your room instantly new and 100-percent Y-O-U. For projects like these,
you’ll want to go through some interior decorating magazines or websites to
score some stellar ideas. Then, take your notions to a home improvement store
and let the experts help ya come up with a game plan.
If you could redo your room however you wanted, what
would it look like?
