Brown discharge. Period prob?

I’ve had my period for three years, but this week was different. At the end of my period, I started getting brownish discharge on and off. What’s going on?

Hey girlie, that brownish discharge could be a couple of different things, none of which you should worry about. What could be happening is that your body is getting rid of old endometrial tissues, which line the uterus, to make room for newer tissues. This cleaning process is perfectly normal and makes sure that your uterus is ready for future periods. Another possible reason for the brownish discharge is just old blood that’s ready to come out. Just because it’s changed from a red to brownish color doesn’t mean you should be scared.

Brownish discharge is quite common, but if it starts to have a strong odor, you should go see your doctor to make sure everything’s OK. Use your instincts, and if you think something’s up, go get it checked out. Remember-it’s better safe than sorry.

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!! Okay so I got this pinkish brownish discharge yesterday and just brownish today.. My doctor told me that I was going to get my period in about a year. I thought you are really close to your period when you get brown discharge! (its not poo i checked,lol) I am just really confused right now! Is my doctor wrong or right? How long do you think I will get it like a few days, months, or weeks? PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thank you!!!

This totally sounds like your period! Your doc tried to give you a time estimate, which is super helpful, but the truth is that no one can predict exactly when you'll get your first period. Even a professional! So try to put what your doctor said behind you and get prepared for your first period. It might not get any heavier this month, but I would expect it next month for sure. (And obviously, because we can't accurately predict it, I could be wrong...but it's always better to be prepared!)

ok when i went to change into my pajamas tonight when i took off my underware to put new ones on, i saw a dark red/ brown in my under ware, before i tell my mom anything, i want to know, is this my period? it doesnt have a heavy odor/wierd odor, and i have never ever had my period, is this a sign that its coming? or is this my period?

It may be the start of your period, but to be 100%, talk to your mom

I havent ever had my period before. but theres this brown stuff. and its not poop. thats gross and im not 5. and is that a sign that my period is starting or something or what what happens as a signal that ur getting your period? HELP!

Hey chickadee! The brown stuff sounds like you're spotting... meaning, you're period is most likely on its way.

I have had my period for a about a year, and it's been completely regular. I really wanna try tampons, but I don't know how to tell my mom(She has never tried a tampon so she doesn't really even think about them as an option)I've always told her pretty much everything about this type of stuff I just don't know how to talk to her about this. How do I tell her?

Hey chica! I'd be honest and let your mom know that you want to try them. Give her your reasons and ask if you can pick up a box the time you're shopping. She should understand. And if she doesn't, then you can always borrow one from the school nurse, or a friend, to try!
