In a locker room, it’s easy to start comparing bodies, but you just have to stop! Everyone’s unique and we all have great qualities, so why dwell on the negative things? It’ll only get you down. Try focusing on the amazing things that you love about yourself, like your amazing math skills, athletic ability or outgoing personality. You could even make a list of all those great qualities and tape it to your mirror. Anytime you’re feeling insecure, just take some time to look back at it, and you’ll soon realize that you’ve got a lot more going for you than you might think!

I'm kinda worried. i got my first period in the beginning of August, so it should be starting up again. i'm going into 7th grade, and we have to change with 7th AND 8th graders in the locker room. Would it be bad to change in one of the bathroom stalls? And, i get really really REALLY moody and cranky when i have my period. How can I be careful to not get in trouble when its my time of month? If you have any tips for me please comment on my profile!

I found a really good trick for changing bras when I was camping (with 6 other girls all changing in the same tent at the same time). If you take the straps off, the put the other bra on like you aren't wearing anything else, then unsnap the old bra and slip if off, no one sees anything! It works for a sports bra too. Just instead of unsnapping, you flip the bra and then unsnap it when the sports bra is already on. Just practice once or twice at home to get the hang of it, before you do it at school.

the first day everyone was scared and shy but after like a week or 2 everyone got used to it its really not that bad and after gym we share our lotions and perfumes while we r getting dressed we talk so its like a 5 min break
by mermaidluver99 on 8/18/2011 10:39:45 AM
at my school we only have gym our freshman year, but all we had to do was change in/out of our gym clothes. most girls just changed in front of each other (no big deal we are all girls), but the only "private" place we had to change in were the dirty bathroom stalls. on the rare occasion were i had to change into my gym clothes (lets just say i did not participate unless i was graded) i just did it in front of the other girls. its not like you have to get completely naked (unless you want to change into a sports bra). and also it depends on the school and the teacher, and how much work/activity that teacher will make you do. i hope this helps
by kayla093095 on 8/13/2011 10:40:48 PM
My bro said they did stuff like hide other people's clothes put white out on the lock so they can't see the numbers.. I'm not that worried about changing in front of others. We do that all the time at my friends house.
by softballismyBFF on 8/9/2011 11:47:09 PM
Its normal to be concerned, we have privacy at our school to shower so we dont have to do it front of each other. The guy's shower is just one big open room so they have to get naked in front of each other. I guess its kind of like Glee where the guys compare sizes of certain body parts to each other. Weird if you ask me! So just try to have more privacy or change really fast, I have had to do that before when I felt more concerned.

Hey girly, I too am a small babe. But the things too remember are...every body has a different body. when u get change change fast and no one willl notice act natural, and not insecure. Wear undershirts over ur bra and under ur shirt. pick bras and undies that are pretty,u may not know it but it boosts ur confidence, Good luck girly!

I was never awkward because i was always surronded by friends and the gym teacher was my home room teacher. we always sang songs and told jokes and talked about anything we would talk about in the caf or hallways. it really took some edge off.
by swimmerchic96 on 8/1/2011 5:02:26 PM
everyone will be immature about it at first then it just seems normal.....we all laugh and sing and make jokes in the locker room
by kristag97 on 8/1/2011 3:58:19 PM
Wear a cami (I luvvvv Aeropostale ones cuz they're thin and comfy and totally accentuate your curves) underneath your shirt, and try boyshort undies!!! They're soooo comfy and they're better for changing! <3 <3 <3 thecupcakequeen
by thecupcakequeen on 8/1/2011 3:56:45 PM
MOD MOD MOD!!! So lately, I've been feeling really self conscious, especially because of BTS clothes shopping. Nothing seems to fit me right, and since I'm not exactly a size 6, if something DOES fit me right, it isn't cute at all. Also, a bunch of my really super skinny friends say that they are "fat" and it hurts my self esteem, because they are a LOT skinnier than me. How can I get my self esteem back? And do you have any advice on clothes shopping?
by sammac7 on 8/1/2011 2:47:31 PM
don't worry i feel the same way. i am flat chested too
by hotstuff98 on 8/1/2011 2:45:04 PM
When i was in 6th grade, are P.E teacher banned us from changing in the bathrooms because they said"People who really need to go to the bathroom won't be able to if a bunch of insecure girls are in them". So they would stand in front of the bathrooms making sure that no one had any cloths in there hands or in there bags during P.E time.
by nessar98 on 8/1/2011 2:39:54 PM
Lol, at my school me and my friends are always like, comparing our underwear(me: "Look how stupid these are! Who puts owl on underwear?!) and comparing bra size. We're pretty good friends, Lol.
by imnotarainbow on 8/1/2011 1:55:29 PM
if your worried wear a cami!that's what most girls at my school do!
by rainbowsparkle98 on 8/1/2011 1:27:32 PM
You don't have to change out in the open. The locker rooms at my school had bathrooms and showers so some people [including me] used to go back there and change.
by NJessicaN on 8/1/2011 1:02:05 PM
At my school we started changing in the locker room in fourth grade
by emsnems on 8/1/2011 12:56:29 PM
Ur lucky to have a flat chest my chest is the total opposite and i can't do anything sport related without being somewhat uncomfortable.

No one will even be staring at you in the locker room because they will be too busy wondering if everyone's staring at them. And if they are, just go change in the bathroom.

Changing in the gym locker room was not a big deal at my middle school, the locker room was huge and most girls changed in the bathroom anyways, so there was no comparing or negativity. Check out my profile!!
