When it comes to nipples, what's normal?

 

 

Nipples are kind of like belly buttons. They can be “innies” or “outies.” Although you don’t hear about them much, inverted nipples are actually fairly common. Girls and guys can have them, and it can affect one or both or your nipples.
 

So what’s the cause? There are actually a number of factors that contribute to the way your nipples look. Two common causes of inverted nipples are scar tissue and a shorter milk duct. Both draw the nipple back instead of letting it stick out.

The biggest problem a severe case of inverted nipples can cause involves breastfeeding—and we’re betting (and hoping) that’s far from your mind right now.
 
While you can get surgery to “fix” your nipples, it’s painful and usually unnecessary. There’s no reason to be worried unless this inversion is a very sudden, recent occurrence, or you’re experiencing pain. If you are concerned, though, it’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor. It never hurts to make sure you’re healthy!

I'm not really an expert on this kind of stuff so I don't know what it would specifically be called. Rest assured, there's nothing wrong with them! Breasts can go through a lot of changes.

3 Questions:
1. i am about to turn twelve. I guess i started puberty at nine cause thats when my boobs started getting pointy and sticking out. Now i wear the same bra i wore 3 years ago (34A )Should i be concerned???
2. THis to me is totally awkward and disgusting but there is this little thing on my breast. It is like a very short hair but is too thick and straight to be hair. It looks kind of like a little tiny black needle stuck in my chest with a light brown (lighter than my skin) circle around it. What could it be. It was never there before.

So first, if you're still comfortable in that same bra and you think it fits well, then it's fine to keep wearing it. I'm not exactly sure what the thing on your breast is, so I think you should ask your mom or a doctor about that, just to be safe.

It can also be possible to have nipples that are different in size. One of my good friends is so embarrassed about it. Its the areola part not the nipple itself. I told her she shouldnt be worried about it and I didnt think it looked that bad.

ok so im 13 i am a double d almost into a triple d but anyway i always worried because it took a long time for one of my nipples to come out it just like popped out in 6th grade or what ever but one is still inverted but the one that like not inverted is like really little and ive talked to my mom and doctor they say its normal but i dont feel like other girls if i only have one nipple that not even barely there ugh i feel weird like atleast if i had both nipples n they were little i woudlnt care but havin one inverted n one that not really nothin sucks

I am now allowed to wear makeup to cover my pimples, but its the only make up i'm allowed to wear so I don't know much about it. What brands are the best? I heard about this one that helps prevent pimples. Should I get that one?

Hey, so my mom's side of the family have C cups, and my dad's side also have C cups, but im still an A cup. I know my breasts are still growing because I'm fifteen, but im scared I'll stay a 32A forever even though my genes aren't. Is that even a possibility?

 Your genes do have some effect on your breast size, but they're not the only factor. You weight also has to do with it, plus you're still developing so you've got some time before you fully settle into your body. x0x0

i have B cup boobs and there prolly not going to grow much more, but my nipples havent grown at all! my sis (shes 4 years older with C cups) says i have "boy nipples" which is true because they are REALLy small and look like they havent grown AT ALL since when i was flat chested. what happened to the stage where my nipples grew? or have i jus not reached that stage yet? thanks i been wondering about this!




Nipple size varies from person to person! Some have big some have small. Nothing is wrong with these different sizes. So dont worry about it Smile they may grow some but they also may stay the same. Dont fret. xoxo kerra

im 14 and a half..and my boobs have no started growing at all. it makes me extremely self concious because every girl in my grade at least has some boobs. even a few boys have commented on my flatness and its really been hurting my self esteem. i dont want to go into high school with no boobs D: im beginning to think ill never grow.




Hey girl, you'll grow eventually, no worries. Ignore the comments for now and just focus on taking care of yourself. You have no control over when they grow, but not taking care of yourself physically and mentally won't help.

Hey girl. 1) I've always found it best to mix and match. I've seen some sets at Kohls and Target in the past though. 2) If you like a style then go for it. People will judge you based on your personality, not your clothes. If they do judge, then they are not worth your time. 3) I would search around for these. I think DSW has some cute options:

I dont think you need surgery but I dont know much about this problem. Breasts are mainly for feeding our babies when we have them someday. So if there is a problem with breast feeding, I think, is the only reason to get something done. But it is true that our chest affects how we feel about ourselves, good of bad, but people who have dealt with breast cancer sometimes need surgery to make them look normal again.

mod mod mod mod so, i have the exact opposite problem...my nipples stick out so you can see them through my bra sometimes...I've heard they do that when it is cold outside, but mine do it when the temps 95 degrees! a more padded bra? but what about sports bras? help! thanks!!!

 

Sometimes, it happens for no reason at all. Give it some time and it should subside

justadream11, Hi I know how you feel. You want that person to end up having etnernal life when they die. What you could do is take them to a church function not necessarily church, maybe a youth game night or lock in. Ask an adult at the event to talk to your friend, and sorry the mod didn't help much but when that person dies you want them to live eternaly! Smile

my boobs are a-cups and i am 12. they have already started developing; about year ago. i had a doctors checkup in may and my doc said that i would get my period within a year. i do not have any discharge yet however; yesterday my right boob got really sore. my areola turned red and my nipple purple. it hurts like crazy if i touch it at all. it kinda feels like a giant bruise. i know it isn't just my boobs developing. please help!!!

Hey babe! You're still really young. It could be a couple of years before your body changes. It's different for everyone, no body is the same. If you have small boobs, that's totally fine too. You should embrace the body you have, and don't worry, you're period will come soon enough and once it's here you'll wish it wasn't. xoxo!
