Lost without my BFF

My BFF and I have been friends since pre-K. Lately, she ignores me for other friends. She rarely invites me over. When I tried talking to her about it, she smiled and walked away. How can I make her understand I’m lonely?

Dear Lost Without a BFF,

I’m sorry you’re feeling lonely. But instead of striving to make your friend understand this, make new friends. Can you meet some girls at the pool or rec center? Who else like to swim or throw Frisbees or go to concerts or whatever it is you do in the summer? Going away for a vacation might also help clear your mind. Is there a camp friend or cousin you can visit? It’s possible you and your BFF will become close again, but when you see her, be upbeat rather than letting her know you feel lost. When you want to get closer to someone, it’s better to seem less needy.

MOD MOD MOD!!!!!! ok, so im going into high school, and last year there was a middle school marching band, which i was in and loved. this year i joined with the rest of my friends, only to be moved into pit (its like extra percussion, but no drums, just xylophones and stuff.). well, pit doesnt march, and im a drummer, so it was boring for me and i wasnt having any fun and never saw my other friends who play like flute and french horn cuz they are on the feild and im in front, so i quit and changed my schedule and everything. My best friend ally is in pit, and since i quit she has been like ignoring me and even told my other band friend kate "we need to find a replacement" (meaning replace me). i cant believe that she would be like that. I keep feeling like this year is going to suck becuz most of my friends are in the band and ill never see them, plus the fact that Ally like hates me right now......i feel so alone. any help?

Hey girl, sounds confusing- you said all of your friends were in the marching part, but then your best friend was in the pit with you? It sounds like she is hurt that you left her for your other friends. Did you quit band completely or change to the field? You should talk to your friend ally and explain to her why you quit. If you want to change your schedule back, you could go talk to your school counselor and she might be able to help.

I used to have an awesome friend, lets call her L, and we were the bestest friends for 7 long and happy years. Well then a another girl came into the picture, we'll call her C.
Well C is a mean girl, that says whatever she's thinking, and no-one but one of my friends see's how mean she is. Like one time she said to stop sending messages from MY skype account. And she says in front of 7 people 'I never considered you a friend'. See what I mean, I am not even making this up!! But my old bestie sees right though it. And C has influcened L to get 3 ear piercings,and to always want to be texting. I want my old friend back, i mean I have other awesomely cool friends that I want to be with- but L was just a really good friend. can you help me cope with this?

A few days ago, one of my BFF'S texted me asking to hang out, "prefferably at my house." (She invited herself over, to rephrase it.) I understood why she wanted to come over because I went over to her house the last time, so it was time for her to come over to my house.
So, I asked my mom if she could, and my mom said no because she wanted to relax, maybe on Friday. (She has said this before.) I told my friend, and my friend got mad at me after I said maybe Friday, saying "I'm done trying to put up with your stupid schedule which never wants to hang out with me." I didn't respond to the text.This has happened before, and even though I offered her Friday, she still got mad. How should I deal?

Hey girl, Just explain to her that you still want to hang out with her, but your mom's rules come first. Let her know that you still want to be her friend. She may just be frustrated because she wants to hang out with you and you can't.

MODMODMOD little by little, my bestfirend been ditching me for other people, canceling plans last minute 'just cuz she feels like it', and when i dont follow her around im apparently mad at her. i decided i need some time for other friends besides just her. We recently got put on seperate sports teams for the first time. now she thinks im being stuck up because im on a higher age group and i like my team so i hang out with them outside of practice. Whenever she brings it up she gets all snotty like shes the one whos being ditched all the time by her bff. it makes me feel terrible because even cansidering all the stuff shes done to me i still feel like im doing something wrong by hanging out with other people! please give me some advice. thanks

Hey chica, you have done nothing wrong. You're hanging out with people who actually treat you the way a real friend would. Whenever you feel bad just think about all the mean things she did to you. Hope you feel better!

I'm going into highschool this year..and I'm beginning to realize that I have such a wide variety of lots friends, I don't know who my really good friends are. I'm so confused, and I feel really lonely, because sometimes I feel like I have none. I don't know if anyone else has ever felt this way. What should I do?
