Lost without my BFF

My BFF and I have been friends since pre-K. Lately, she ignores me for other friends. She rarely invites me over. When I tried talking to her about it, she smiled and walked away. How can I make her understand I’m lonely?

Dear Lost Without a BFF,
I’m sorry you’re feeling lonely. But instead of striving to make your friend understand this, make new friends. Can you meet some girls at the pool or rec center? Who else like to swim or throw Frisbees or go to concerts or whatever it is you do in the summer? Going away for a vacation might also help clear your mind. Is there a camp friend or cousin you can visit? It’s possible you and your BFF will become close again, but when you see her, be upbeat rather than letting her know you feel lost. When you want to get closer to someone, it’s better to seem less needy.

School is coming up soon, and I need your help. Do you have any tips or ideas on how I can balance school, family, friends, work, and a boyfriend this year?

Talk to your family, friends and boyfriend regarding the need to balance your time equally. As far as school, make sure it comes first and schedule work around it

MODMODMOD Okay so my best friend (lets call her B) has this REALLY annoying babysitter who has been getting on my nerves lately. She cant really stop her from coming because shes kind of their nanny and her youngest brother is still young. My other good friend (lets call her M) and I have been sharing how much we both dislike her babysitter lately: Just a few days ago, after B invited me and M over, we went to her house with the spare keys. Apparently I wasn't supposed to lock the bottom lock but at the time I didn't know that. So one minute later, her babysitter comes barging into the door and kicks me and M out of the house, as if she owned it! She also said that I am in big trouble (???) and she will call my dad. I REALLY hate her now, as you can see, plus I don't want to get in trouble for no reason, so HELP!!!!!!

Hey girly,
Unfortunately, there really isn't anything you can do in this situation. Because B's parents have hired this babysitter, she is in charge of the house and what she says goes in terms of what goes on when the parents are out. Just tell your dad what happened and see what happens.

My best friend ever moved away this summer and so we only communicate through text. i feel like she kinda changed and she bothers me alot so i dont really want to be as close as we were. but she wants to still. she doesnt take my hints and i dont know what to do. i dont have a problem being friends i just dont want to be best friends. what can i do?

Hey girl,

You should keep in mind that the move might have been really hard for her so she probably needs you as her bff right now, even though you don't really wanna be.  SInce you only communicate through text, you can try to limit the amount of time you talk to her, by saying stuff like, "i'd love to talk about this now, but i have to help my mom cook dinner" or something like that. Hopefully after a while she'll get used to her new town and make new friends so she won't have to rely on you as much. x0x0

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!! I hang with three main friends Sam, shagina, and kiley. Me Samantha and shagina all get along but when ever kiley is around with all of us she will try to start things between us. Then when one of us isn't there she talks behind no only our backs but our family's backs. A few months ago we had our yearly talk that's when we get together and discusss some issues. I told every one there that I ws sick of all the talking behind pples backs and I told them that if someone talked behind the other persons back I would tell the other person. I kept my promise and she still does it and now sheblames all her fights on me. Were really getting sick of all her drama and we need a long break. I am even thinking about cutting her out of my life completely, since I have lost all interest in hanging out with her at all. I am not trying to blame it all on her but we get along just fine when she isn't around. Do u think cutting her out of my life is such a good idea?????

Hey girl. Sounds like you got a toxic friend on your hands. Try talking to her one more time and then drop her.

Mod Mod MOd PLEASE HELP! URGENT!
So my friend (we'll call her K) and I are starting 7th grade in a few days. Well we were texting yesterday and she told me she had a bf. She said she met him on FACEBOOK and he lives in ALABAMA! We don't live CLOSE to alabama! It's 4 states away AT LEAST! She hasn't told her mom that they are dating, but her mom knows they talk on the phone like every day. K is afraid to tell her mom bc she thinks her mom will make fun of her like she did with her last bf. I am nervous about k's relationship and I am kinda mad at her for doing something so stupid. Especially since she won't be 13 until december and he is 14!!! What should I do?

Hey girl,

You should encourage K to talk to her mom, because her mom really should know what's going on in K's life. And tell K that you're really concerned about her, and give her specific reasons why you're so concerned, to help her understand. If you talk to her and she sees how much you care about her, I'm sure she'd be willing to listen to what you have to say. x0x0
