Is it weird to crush on a younger guy?


 
There’s this boy I like. He’s dreamy and smart, but the thing is he is one grade behind me. My friends don’t like him because of that. What should I do?

Hey girlie! There’s nothing wrong with liking or dating a boy who’s a little younger than you. I know the age difference seems huge now, but it’s only one year! Even you really feel a connection with this boy, don’t let one measly year get in the way of that.

Maybe your friends think the age difference is such a big deal because he acts more than a year younger. Is he really immature? If you don’t think he is then you should explain to your friends how much you like him and hopefully they will too. If you and your BFFs still can’t agree then you need to decide which is more important: Following your heart or the approval of your friends. Remember that you’re your own person and you decide what’s best for you.

If you decide to date this boy, it doesn’t mean you and your girlies aren’t friends anymore, just agree to disagree on this issue. Tell them that you appreciate them telling you how they feel and you hope they understand why you chose to date him. Later, if you realize that your BFFs were right and that the boy is way too immature for you, thank your friends for their advice, but tell them to keep the I-told-you-so's to themselves. Even though you’re lucky to have friends who care about you, that's the last thing you need to hear after a break-up.

my crush is a grade below me, but he's only 4 months younger than me and whenever i talk to him i don't even think about the grade difference. it's just irrelevant.

I dated a guy who was a year younger than me. It was kind of annoying how so many people judged us though...If ya really like the guy though, go for it

I like a guy a year younger than me who also happens to be my friends cousin. Yesterday the three of us hung out and it was sweet til my friend said to him stop flirting with my friend! A while later we were holding hands and he said this is awkward were not even dating but he kept holding my hand. I think he likes me but I'm not completely sure and when we went bak to her house he was stalking another girl on Facebook and he only gave me a hug when I left. But my friend changed his profile picture to a pic of me and him and he didnt change it back. Idk what to help? Should I try to date him or let it go if he likes that other girl?
Oh and also there's awkward silences when we talk and sometimes we run out of things to text about what are some ideas to solve that?

Hey girl,

It sounds like he could totally like you, but he's probably worried about A) If you like him back, B) That your friend might get awkward/mad if he dated you, and C) How dating you would work with that other girl. But none of that means it CAN'T happen - just try to talk to him lots, hang out even more, and flirt so he knows what you're feeling. <3 As for those awkward silences, it's tough but you gotta relax! Stay calm and keep your ears open for ways you can keep the convo going. Ask him questions about his interests/friends/activities/fam/life, throw in your own opinions, and just play it cool. You can do it! It's much better and more natural if you don't come in with a written script ;)

so there is this guy that i have went out with before. we had been going out for about 3 months, and then i didn't have feelings for him anymore, so i broke up with him. i'm friends with someone who is friends with him, and this friend told me that he cried when i broke up with him. as soon as i had broke up with him though, i had cried myself to sleep for a couple nights because i regretted it so much. all that was in the summer and i dont know if it was just summer getting to my head and i wanted to go to the pool and flirt with guys or whatever. but now in school if we make eye contact all the memories we had together come back, and i miss him! we never talk, and him and this one girl were supposedly gonna go out, but they havent. what should i do since i miss him? plus, there's another guy i like but he already has a gf. any advice? thanks!

Why not try apologizing for how things went down this summer? It might not make him forgive you, but it would at least settle your thoughts and let you know you've done all you can to make things right. It's natural to miss someone that you've spent lots of time with, even if you're not meant to be together in the end! But if you're regretting your decision and feel like you might want to try again, you gotta start by admitting you were wrong. (In person at his locker at the end of the day, over IM/Facebook chat, via text, on the phone...whatever you choose.) As for the other guy who has a GF, he's obviously off the market right now. The best thing to do is remember that (so NO flirting!), then try chatting with him in order to get to know him as a friend. Develop your friendship while he has this GF and get comfortable with each other. Then, if/when they break up, you can turn your friendly convos into more flirty ones with compliments, teasing, jokes, etc.

I'm a freshman this year. One of my freshman friends talks to a lot of seniors, and she says there is a senior guy who kinda likes me. I haven't talked to him much, and I'm not sure what I should do about it.


 


Hey chica! I'd be careful with this. Lots of times, older guys are into different things. And, they might try to pressure you into things you're not comfortable with. But, if this guy respects you and is a good person, then I'd start building a friendship with him and see where it goes from there.
