Banish bad breath

 
My breath smells REALLY bad all of the time. I brush my teeth at least 3 times a day and constantly chew mints. Why does it smell still this way and how can I get rid of it?

 

Hey sweetie! Bad breath totally, er, stinks. Also called halitosis, that funky odor is caused by bacteria and left over food decaying in your mouth—yuck! Before you freak, it’s reassuring to know that about 90 million people suffer from chronic bad breath and there are lots of ways to stop the stink.
 
If your toothbrush and mints strategy just isn’t enough, there are lots of other options. An easy switch? Replace mints with gum, which triggers saliva production, your best bet for cleaning out your mouth. Still struggling with the stench? Pick up a waterpick at your local drugstore for a better clean, or grab fluoride toothpaste to step your teeth cleaning up a notch – don’t forget to brush your tongue (it’s a sneaky hiding spot for gross bacteria to grow).
 
If nothing works, see a dentist about the possibility of cavities or tooth decay. And remember, bad breath is nothing to be embarrassed about, and you should feel comfortable expressing your concerns to a doctor or your parents. Good luck, girl!

hey my name is maggie and im 14 and i have question when i talk to someone my mom says yr breath smells bad, even my friends say that. also i brush my teeth everyday and chew mint gums and nothing is working also even mouth wash. so plz help me i want my breath to smell nice and i dont know what to do. how do i keep my breath smelling nice from the bad breath. and my mom says i breath with my mouth open is that true is it bad. plz help me im begging im always scared tht someone will walk away from . what do i do.

Anywho, I always brush my tongue, I can't stand not cleaning it. I brush my teeth twice a day, 1 at night and 1 in the morning. I use Cologate..<--is that a good toothpaste brand?? I use to use Crest but it's TOO minty for me, it makes my mouth burn and for the whole morning my mouth is minty! I have to eat some type of food that has a strong scent which takes out the mintyness<--if that's a word?? Will chewing gum actually help?? Sorry I'm soooo curious, skeptic, and always asking for answers!

Love Colgate! Chewing gum helps to freshen up when you can't brush your teeth - like after lunch at school. It's not a permanent breath fix, but it can help perk up your mouth for a couple hours! Smile

Your bad breath could be caused by a nasal infection or upset stomach. If it doesn't go away with gum or mints you should ask your dentist or Dr.

MOD!!MOD!!MOD!! I have a breath problem. I brush my teeth in the morning and at night (and also my tongue) but after about an hour it starts smelling bad. I'm in my school choir, and its my very first period of the day, my breath is fine but when I start singing, it starts smelling awful. I always drink water and chew gum to make it better but is there anything I can do to get rid of it?? And is me singing early in the morning connected to my bad breath somehow??

Do you floss your teeth? Flossing and using mouthwash can help get rid of bacteria, germs, lost food particles, and other smell-causers in there! Try avoiding cheese and milk in the morning, which can make bad breath seem even worse. Otherwise, you should def describe your habits to your doctor/dentist and ask him/her for professional advice! Smile Nothing to be embarrassed about...I bet they'll be able to help!

I have bad breath and sensitive teeth, I brush my tongue AND my cheeks, I also brush for about 5 minutes. My breath smells good for about less than an hour then stinks... I'm also not sure if they make senstive flouride toothpaste. Is it possibly because I have a soft bristle brush?




Hey girl, I'd try using mouthwash and following up with breath mints. It's not the brush, it's just that's what happens with eating.

every single night at my house it is cold (cause of AC). but, every single night at home i sweat. not at other peoples houses, just mine. it just started this month. and when i wake up in the morning, i smell REALLLLLY bad and so does my bed. we tried fabric freshener, but it didnt wash away the stink.

MOD MOD MOD!!! I hate mint. The toothpaste candy canes mints everything! It makes me gag and cough. I can't get over the flavor! I still brush with the "Kids Crest Sparkle Fun" stuff because it tastes good but it doesn't help my breath. I floss and use interdental brushes (I have braces) and drink water! My teeth are still yellow-ish and my breath is smelly. How can I grow to like mint toothpaste? Or is there a different flavor that smells good?

 

Hey girl, if you don't like mint, then don't use it! You could try cinnamon or only slightly flavored toothpaste. When you go shopping, look in the travel aisle and pick a few different kinds to toothpaste to try- that way, if you don't like them, then you can just throw them away.

Hey girl, you cannot lose that much weight realistically in four days or even four weeks. It needs to be very gradual and it's something you need to consult with your doc about before you go for it. Your mom is right: it's all about exercise and healthy eating, and how you're going to implement that to lose a sizable amount of weight over time has to be planned carefully with your doc. So set up an appointment and see what you can do safely. You can do it, but it'll take hard work and time.

Mod mod mod, ok so the other say I tried on my school skirt and it didn't fit! I was really mad, but I was wondering if u had any ideas for losing a a few pounds, I know that u probably think that ilosing weight is not the best thing to do, but then again I am NOT the skinniest kid. Also, school goes back in about a week so if u have any ideas on what to do about the skirt situation. Also my school shirts were a little snug, so if u know of any places to buy good quality cheap white collared shirts that would be awesone! Thanks! Smile




JCPenney is great for collared shirts Smile  Until then, see if your mom can get you a few "back-up" skirts. As far as weight, your best bet is to eat healthy, exercise and drink plenty of water and talk to your doctor prior to making any changes to your habits.

I read about getting rid of dark under-eye circles on here but i don't have dark circles, i have puffy eyes. Even when i get enough sleep i still have them,and i drink plenty of water. My mom says it's genetic, but is there still any way to get rid of them? Thanks!

so I've been having a ridiculous amount of discharge for almost a week now. unless I'm wearing dark pants, i have to change my pants around twice a day, because the discharge leaks through my underwear and leaves wet spots on my shorts. Is this normal? Will it stop? I want to get it under control before school starts in about a month.
Additional Information: I'm thirteen, turning fourteen in november. As of october, I've had my period for 2 years. Help?

 

Hey girl,

It's totally normal! Discharge goes from light, heavy, to not even there at all. I know it feels crazy because it's sooo annoying, but just try to hang in there. You could wear a pantiliner to keep you (and your panties) a lil bit drier, or just be strong and get through it. You can always ask your doc if you want more professional advice but, unfortunately, discharge is just part of being a girl!

Hey girly,
If you think your legs are too big, try doing exercises that will tone your legs. If you want a quick fix though that will make you feel more comfortable, wear shoes that give you a little height and wear pants that are cut in a flattering way.

Mod! Mod! Mod! Ok so for about a year I have been getting puffy eyes. My mom says that it's a part of puberty, is it? Also I have been having hair in my armpits, I am starting to develop a lot of hair down there, and I have had vaginal discharge for a LEAST 3 months. I am 12 and my mom got her period at 12 so I am confused. Wye are my boobs and my period?

Puffy eyes are totally normal and fine. If you are still worried, then there is nothing wrong with checking with a doctor. As for your boobs and period, they will come soon. Everybody is different and you just need to be patient for when it is your time.

MODERATOR!!!!!!!!!! My mom wants me to have braces, but I don't want metal braces. I want Invisalign. I love fruits and veggies, and my friend says it gets stuck a lot and you also can't eat meat and my family eats meat a lot. I'm also thinking about when I actually master guitar (which is soon), I'll try to get some gigs around my town so appearance will be important to me. I have a slight open bite and a slight posterior crossbite. And the inside of my cheeks are sensitive. Any advice?

Hey gal. 1)Nope, unless they are making you really underweight. 2) The key is to make sure that you eat right and workout at the same time. If you are eating protien etc. you should be fine.
