Am I a late bloomer?

 
I was reading that you usually get your period around the same time your mom did. If that's true, I should have my period by now. I was wondering if that's normal not to get around the same time. Am I just a really late bloomer?

 

That is not necessarily true. The important thing to remember when it comes to periods is that EVERY girl is different and develops at a different rate. Some girls may get their periods around the same time their mothers did, and some will get it earlier or later. It’s not unusual for girls to get their first periods in their late teens. It’s really just up to Mother Nature!
 
Comparing your body to your mother’s, your aunt’s or your sister’s is silly when you think about it. When they mature earlier than you do, these comparisons can make you think that there must be something wrong with your, since your not following the schedule their bodies set. But , babe, you’ve gotta remember: There is no normal when it comes to puberty. A chat with your doctor can really help put your mind at ease…and make sure there really isn’t anything wrong with your bod.

i have only have discharge for 3 months, but i have all the other signs of a period.in the last three days i have at least 2 bad stomach aches. i get stomachaches sometimes if i'm stressed or have not have any breakfast that day, but it has been the weekend so none of those have happened.COULD IT BE PMS!?!?!?!?!?!




It could be pms. I get stomach aches in my lower stomach area. If thats where you feel them you might be getting it soon. xoxo kerra

okay i was wondering if you could tell me when i MIGHT get my period..i am 12 almost 12and a half..i have had discharge for about 8months and i get headaches and backaches pretty often..also my mom got her when she was a freshmen ..my sis got hers in grade 6 and my grandma got hers when she was 9 soo help me out?? Hey Girl,

The good news is, you're right at the age when most girls get their period. The bad news is, there's no way to tell exactly when you're going to get it. The age when your mom got her period is a good indicator for when you may get yours, but as your sister's was earlier than your mom's, yours might be earlier, too. Discharge is a sure sign that your period is on its way, so it will probably be soon, but there's no way to be certain.

My doctor said I was going to get my period this year, I have a pouch with pads and everything I'm in middle school but what do I do if I have to put on/ change a pad during school discreetly? (P.S. I don't bring my backpack into the stall with me.) Thanks!




Hey chica,

Totally awkward - or so it seems. But actually, there are ways to do this without calling any attention to yourself! My favorite is the sweater/hoodie trick. If you're wearing a cardigan, take it off and carry it. Slip the pad inside the fabric, hidden from view. Then just head into the stall with your cardigan in your hand! Problem, solved Smile This also works with a hoodie or sweatshirt. If you're still wearing the sweatshirt and it has those big pockets/the pouch in front, slip the pad in there when you're at your locker.

MOD MOD MOD I'm 14 years old and I haven't gotten my period yet. I know that it often comes near to the time when your mom got it, and if thats true then I should have it around this time. I have had all of the discharge for about a year now and it seems like I have been having period symptoms every month since July. Is it possible that I have my period it just isn't showing up? Because I heard that if you do lots of exercise that sometimes it doesn't show up.
