GL's first-ever fiction contest!

 
Calling all scribes! GL’s psyched to announce our fab fiction contest, with major prizes (like the chance for your story to be featured in the mag) and tons of bragging rights on the line. The winners will be picked by GL editors and guest celeb judges and we’ll be doling out lotsa literary loot to the finals.

 
The deets:
 

1. You must submit a piece of totally original fiction (500-1,500 words) between now and September 8th, 2011. Stories should be emailed to contests@girlslife.com with “Fab Fiction Contest” in the subject line.

 

2. The piece should be either in a Microsoft Word document or pasted in the body of your email.

 

3. Please double-space your submission and use size 12 Times New Roman font, so our readers will be able read everything you’ve written.

 

4. Include your name and age at the top of your entry.

 

5. Each girl can submit up to 3 stories!

 

What are you waitin’ for? It’s time to get writing!

are we allowed to swap fonts at any point in our story as long as we make it so that you can still read the story?

I am kind of getting old of this magazine,but i just cant stop renewing my issues. This magazine i adore compared to others like seventeen and cosmo girl.
But,to the question.
I am 17,can i still enter in the contest?Or is that too oldish?

Do we need to put our last name in the entry? If we do will it be private, so no one else can see it?




Hey girl, it'll be private and kept to GL only. You can do first initial, but should you be chosen, we'd probably email you and ask for that informaton after.

Is it ok if I use something real in my story?? Like, a real event but everything else be totally original? Thank you!!!

 

Sure, girl! Lots of authors take inspiration from their real lives. Just be sure you don't use real people's names or places, just in case they would feel violated/uncomfortable with that <3

This sounds like such fun for any writer! I'm just figuring out what to write about!
C'mon guys everyone can write a short story! Sillies! J.K Rowling wrote The tales of Beetle the Bard, a collection of short stories!
