I wear glasses and while they help me see better, they
get in the way when I play sports. My mom won’t let me get contacts, so I’m
wondering if there’s any way I can improve my eyesight to the point where I
won’t need them anymore…
While there are no sure-fire ways to guarantee you can
ditch the glasses, there are some exercises and foods that’ll improve your
eyesight. Just like the rest of your body, your eyes need a workout to function
properly and stay on their game. Three to four times a day, try blinking really
fast for a few seconds, and then closing your eyes as tightly as possible. This should give your eyes the exercise
they’ve been needing.
Other factors, such as diet and stress level can also
affect your eyesight, so it’s important to monitor them. Yoga and meditation are great ways to
relieve stress, and eating foods such as carrots, blueberries, spinach and eggs
are extremely beneficial. Getting lots of shut-eye is important, too, so be
sure to get enough sleep each night.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do to guarantee
20/20 vision, but trying these tips definitely can’t hurt. In the meantime,
pack some glass-cleaning solution in your sports bag and whip it out whenever
your glasses need a good scrubbing. If you feel like the glasses are really
holding you back, there are specially designed goggles that work like glasses
and are used by athletes while playing sports. They are designed to stay on
during games and practices, so you won’t have to worry about them getting in
the way anymore. The important thing is that you keep playing the sports you
love and don’t let your glasses get in the way of that!
