After weeks of sleeping in, swimming and sunning yourself in
the backyard, you are B-O-R-E-D. Take heart, hunnies, ‘cause we’ve got five
ridiculously fun things for you to do today, tomorrow or whenever you like.
Best of all, you’ve probably got all the fixings at home already. Sweet!
Build a house of cards
How high can you go?
Challenge your buds to a tower-building contest. You each get a deck of cards.
What you do with it—and how long your structure remains standing—is totally up
to you.
Create a popsicle stick sculpture
I hope you’ve got your trusty bottle of Elmer’s Glue handy,
‘cause this one might get a li’l bit messy. Lay down some newspaper and get to
work. You could craft a mansion for your sis’s Barbie dolls, a picture frame
for you ‘n’ your buds, an abstract sculpture dedicated to your crush—anything
you want!
Papier mache a piñata
All you need for this bad boy is a big balloon, a pile of
newspaper and a ½ glue, ½ water combo (or 1:5 flour-water ratio). Inflate your
balloon, cut your paper into strips and start dipping and spreading. Start with
the body, covering most of the balloon, then branch out into whatever design
suits your fancy. Once you’ve gotten most of it done, let the whole thing dry.
Then pop the balloon with a pin, fill ‘er up with treats and patch up the hole.
Dress it up with colorful tissue paper or paint. Tada!
Create a comic strip
This project is great for a rainy day. We love the idea of
coming up with our own super hero and scripting an adventure for her. Enlist
your pals to draw, color and write the story, and spend the afternoon giggling
over the latest heroine to fly into the superhero scene.
Draw caricatures of your chicas
If you’ve walked past street artists selling caricatures,
you know how silly these drawings can be! Keep yours nice, playing up your
friends’ best assets. Give yourselves a time limit, then do a big reveal. Offer
prizes—ice cream sundaes, anyone?—for the most realistic and the most
ridiculous drawings of the day.
Tell me, babes: When boredom strikes, what’s your go-to
activity?
