In a recent article posted on CNN.com, Katia Hetter calls out two of our fave celebs, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, saying that they have “terrible handwriting,” that their signatures are “barely legible.” Sure, their sigs might not be the neatest, but judging a person’s ability to write by an autograph scrawl is kinda silly, don’t ya think?
Everyone seems to be totally flipping because they think that generations to come won’t know how to write neatly if they don’t learn cursive. But let me fill you in on a little secret—I learned cursive and I never even use it. I always write in print, and so do all of my peers. So why is everyone getting so worked up about how we write? When you think about it, every celebrity, young and old, has a pretty sloppy signature—they write it so fast and so often that they get used to doing it quickly to get the job done. They can’t hate on Miley and the Biebs for their sloppy signatures when everyone that came before them signed just the same way.

i think cursive should be learned in school. but its not that much anymore. i think its kinda stupid giving, ipads to students, if they dont know how to write in cursive.

i think that kids should be taught everything- cursive, print, and keyboarding. then they decide what they want to use the most- i mean, my sister is in 11th grade and she writes everything in cursive, whereas i am in 8th and i write everything in print (except my signature). its not like its bad for kids to learn extra, anyway. they'll have it stored in their heads in case they need it, that's all.

i learned cursive in 1st. im still using it today in 10th. tyoing it out doesnt help kids because they may be in a siattution one day when typing is inpraticle and cursive is needed. i find it ridic that schools are changing the things that millions of ppl before this generation so that we have it "Easier

I think that both need to be implemented in our learning. I use cursive all the time, because my print is horrible. I learned cursive in 3rd grade and i found it to be very useful. And you need it for your signature But keyboarding, a skill I've been learning since 1st or 2nd grace is also very useful, since this is a generation of techy people. Bottom line, educators need to find a way to use them both.l

I learned cursive at four [and print at 4 as well, just I learned cursive first] and that's about all I use nowadays. Everyone should know cursive and I would call out Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus for their sloppy signatures as well. They're both my least favorite celebrity's, but still, I'd still probably call out any sloppy signature. Xoxo, Alyséa Sarah G.
