When it comes to the hair down there, we’re all different.
Some girls have a sparse little patch, while others tend to have a bit of a
jungle. Keeping it neat and clean isn’t as difficult as you might think.
With thick hair, it’s difficult to shave with a safety razor
straight away. I recommend grabbing a small pair of sharp scissors and carefully
giving yourself a trim. There’s nobody there to say how much or how little you
should snip, so do what feels and looks right to you. Thinning it out with
scissors might be enough to make you comfortable, but if you do decide to
shave, go slowly. A shaving cream or gel will make it much easier, as will a
fresh blade on your razor.

maia, not sure whos advice you took but once you start shaving down there it can feel itchy when you first start doing it. You just have to use a very good moisturizer and make sure you cover the entire area where you shaved. Be sure its a moisturizer for sensitive areas.
