Middle school is turning me into a stress mess!

I started junior high this year, and I find it very overwhelming. I don’t have time for all the things I love—boys, friends, shopping, etc. What can I do to get my life back and relax?

Dear Stress Mess,

You’re not alone, and I’m sorry you’re feeling stressed. Lots of hardworking people get overwhelmed because there isn’t enough time to do everything every day. But in the big scheme of things, there is enough time to do what matters. It’s just that you may have to study during the week, and flirt, chat and shop on weekends.

This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some daily rest and relaxation. You can! Give yourself daily kickback time—whether that means taking a bath, e-mailing friends, reading a novel, doing yoga, listening to music, yakking on the phone or walking your dog.

i know this dosnt have to do with this article, but on saturday im gonna get my hair colored. i have fair skin, kinda red and blotchy-and hazel eyes and my natural hair color is dark dirty blonde. also if it helps my hair is about an inch over my shoulders. thnx!

You gotta decide what kind of vibe you're going for! Personally, I think I would go for a dark chestnut brown for fall. Or refresh your look with a brighter 'do by going for a golden blonde. Talk it over with your hairdresser and figure out what is best for your own skin, eyes, and visions of your new hair Smile

I thought middle school was stressful too when I first started, but then you get used to it. Now I am a junior in high school but I'm taking all college classes. Now THAT is stressful. Today I have to:
1. Read and annotate 50 pages in a book on politics
2. Finish reading my American history 101 Ch. 20
3. Write an essay response to the essay "A Modest Proposal"
4. Calculus homework
5. Study for my English 101 and Calculus quizzes tomorrow
6. Create a study guide for my Chem class (Everyone has an F in this class so far)
7. Study for my year III medical class test tomorrow
8. Write two letters to the student body for my writing club!
Now THAT is stressful. And this is a more relaxing day too.

Mod mod mod mod!!!
My mom really doesnt want me to get a boyfriend. I am 14 now and going into highschool. She thinks that it will effect my grades and pull me away from my family. I want to show her that i wont not be her little girl anymore, but if i really like a guy I dont undersand why she wouldnt want me to ho to homecomming, be the boy's girlfriend, and be happy. Do you have any idea what i should do?

Hey babe,

You should show her that you're great at managing your time and dividing it well between your schoolwork, your friends, your family, and yourself. The more mature and aware you seem to her, the more likely she'll see that you're able to handle having a boy in your life. Try to be patient while you're proving that to her and don't get upset! And as you get older and get close to a guy who respects you and treats you well, she's much more likely to come around <3
