Am I too young to be in love?



How do I know if I'm in love? My friends always say that they love with their crushes or BFs, but my mom says 13 is too young to be in love. Is she right?
 
Before ya do anything else, as yourself this, chica: am I really old enough to be worrying about love? You're 13, not even in high school yet, and your friends are declaring love for boys that may not even know they exist, or they only hold hands with in the halls? I don't know about you, girlie, but I don't think that sounds like they really love those guys. You should be worrying about acing your classes and having fun with your besties. Guys are wonderful and all, but being truly in love with them shouldn't be your biggest concern right now.
 
Your mom is totes right about 13 being too young to be in love. You haven't completely figured out who you are and what you want in life. Plus, love takes a long time to develop -- not just one week of going out, or seeing your cutie in class for two months. Sure, you can really like a guy and gush to your BFFs about how completely adorable and amazing he is, but love at 13 is totally too young to truly know if you're in love.

There was this person that I liked, and they were one of my best friends. I told them I liked them, and things became awkward. I tried fixing the situation with them, but the awkwardness got in the way. Many months later, I still wonder what would have happened if we were still friends. Is it worth it to try talking to them one more time?

Why not? You've wisely let some time pass, so try texting them and just saying "hey, listen...i know i made things awkward before and i am so sorry i messed things up. i don't feel that way anymore and really miss being friends. any chance we could catch up sometime?" Just see what happens. There's no guarantee they'll say yes, but it's worth a try to get things back to normal <3

Most of the time what girls are feeling is NOT love. I've had many crushes that I have said I "loved". But love is more than that, it's when you can't go a day without thinking about them, it's when you can't imagine life without them, it's when you remember everything about them and never want to let go. It's when you know that you would die for this person. You will feel different about him than any other crush, and he can make you forget the problems, just by smiling. You can talk to eachother for hours and never get bored, that is what love is. Yes I am 13, yes I am in love, and no it's not fake.

I think they mean if you've only known them a couple of months and just text him or chat, you don't really love him. I have a friend who would post on her BF's wall and say I love you and she was 15, he would say I love you baby forever, one time he told her that and six hours later they broke up and she wasn't even sad. But I can see dating and actually spending time to truly get to know them, I can see someone falling in love then. I don't want to date until i'm at least 18. I don't want to be so obsessed with a guy that I ditch my family, friends, and just be "heart broken" when he breaks up with me.
