The final part of our hair how-to series is here at last! Try out these 9 twists, braids and coifs that are just as sweet as the first and second installments.

17. 2-second twist

How-to: Part hair as normal. Pull back a small 1-inch section of hair at the front of your forehead, above the temple. Twist the section and pin back with two crisscrossed bobby pins.

River Island Feather and Heart Hair Clips, $7 (on sale), asos.com

18. Twist and braid

How-to: Part hair in the center. Twist back a 1-inch section of hair on either side and pin in place. Braid the end of each twisted section and secure with a hair elastic, so you have one face-framing bitty braids on each side. Pretty!

19. Sneaky side part

How-to: Our October/November cover girl looks super glam in a sleek side part. Keep the hair out of your face by pinning it behind your ear, just like Victoria. Spray a bit of hairspray on your palm and smooth over the pinned section to take care of any flyaways.

20. Tie a knot

How-to: You’ll have to have long locks to pull this off, but the effect is quite cool. Spritz in some texturizing spray to give hair some grip. Pull hair into a low side pony, but don’t secure with an elastic. Twist lightly and create a loop to pull the ends through as if you were tying a knot. Pull tight and add bobby pins for extra support.

Sally Hershberger Genius Spray Wax for All Hair Types, $12, ulta.com

21. Dianna’s side-swept bangs

How-to: Got bangs? If you normally wear them straight across your forehead, try brushing them over to one side in conjunction with a side part like Dianna. Spritz flexible hold hairspray into your palm and smooth over bangs to keep them in place. Gels or wax can make bangs look heavy (read: greasy).

Living Proof Straight Hair Spray, $29, ulta.com

22. Pink streak

How-to: The night before school, use a clean mascara wand to paint a section of hair (try one underneath that’ll peek out) with pink hair dye, following dye instructions. So fun!

Cotton Candy Pink Classic Cream Formula, $13, manicpanic.biz

23. Loose pigtails

How-to: Try a casual take on the sweet classic. Part hair in the center, then loosely divide into two equal sections. Tie each section into a low ponytail using a piece of leather cord or a ribbon.

24. Crimp it

How-to: Use a mini-crimping iron to crimp small sections of hair all over your head, both top and bottom layers. Loosen up hair all over with fingers to get a shaken out rocker-chic effect.

Conair CS68P MiniPro Crimping Iron, $16, amazon.com

25. Loose, low chignon

How-to: We love Lucy’s low twist for lazy school mornings. Simply part hair on the side, pull back into a low messy bun at the nape of your neck, and pin to keep it in place. Skip the hairspray and let a few pieces fall loose.

MOD MOD MOD!!! I have soft silky hair, which isn't ideal for styling. How can I make it work out, with out having to friz up my hair??

Hey babe,

I totally hear ya - I'm like you! Try to keep in mind that girls and women all over pay a lot of money to get soft, silky, straight hair like yours. So even when it feels flat or boring, it's actually gorgeous! As for making it work, you just have to find those styles that work with your hair's texture and behavior. For example - your hair might not be able to hold a curl, so spending an hour curling it would be a total waste. But I'll bet your hair does look amazing in a French braid! Experiment with different styles and see which works best Smile

MOD MOD MOD I'm in the marching band and my director is STRICT about girls' hair. We can't have our hair hang out of out hats at ALL, and it has to be on top of our head to be tucked into our hat. I've been pulling it into a bun, but it looks so un-cute! Any suggestions?

Hey chicky, you could curl the rest of the strands. Nothing too shirley temple-y but a light curl. Smile Smile

MOD MOD MOD i really want to get a curling iron but i'm not sure my mom will agree. are they safe and healthy for your hair? and how often should you use one?

Hey girlie,

Girls and women have been using curling irons for years! It's true that excessive heat isn't great for your hair but, if you agree to use it off-and-on for special occasions (like maybe once or twice a week at most), it won't be bad. Ask your mom about them - she might even already own one! You can get her to teach you how to use it, like how to wind the hair around the barrel, how long to hold it so it keeps the curl but you don't singe your hair, and how to handle it safely so you don't burn yourself. With practice, they're a really fun way to change up your look!

Play up your frock. Instead of pairing flats or pumps with that summer dress, try adding some edgy boots or sporty sneakers.
