Ah-mazing ways to celebrate Oktoberfest

Though one of the most-loved festivals in the world, Oktoberfest, traditionally revolves around beer and Bavarian culture, that doesn’t mean you can’t make merry wherever you are…without the alcohol. Say hello to everything autumnal with five stellar ideas. Cheers!

Sample sweet German chocolate

If there's one thing we can't get enough of, it's chocolate! Hit up a specialty chocolate store in your area (or order tasty bites online) and pick up a variety of treats. Place 'em in different-sized bowls, glasses and serving pieces and set your sweeties loose for an afternoon loaded with sugar. Top it off with a classic sweet chocolate cake.

Get your scoop on

Hit refresh on tired root beer floats with a seasonal substitution: non-alcoholic birch beer! Made from the sap of the birch tree, this fizzy treat adds a new flavor to your favorite scoop (or two or three) of ice cream. Yum!

Braid it!

Bored? Do your hair up in braids as a nod to milkmaids everywhere. Think cornrows, head wraps and side braids.

Be a pretzel bar babe

If you need something to nosh on at a study party or sleepover, toss aside chips ‘n’ dip and reach instead for a German specialty: pretzels. Buy them fresh from a local vendor or market, make your own from scratch or check the freezer section of your grocery store for some thaw-‘n’-bake varieties. Offer up plenty of options for dips and toppings, like mustard, a cinnamon sugar frosting, parmesan and garlic powder and more.

Do you kazoo?

Head to the dollar store to pick up kazoos for your friends or party guests and get ready for game time. Write the names of popular songs on scraps of paper and toss ‘em into a hat. Every person gets to pull a song out of the hat and try to play it on their kazoo. The first person to guess the song wins a point, and the person with the most points after you allotted time frame wins!

Tell me, babes: Are you gonna celebrate Oktoberfest?

The supermarket aisles are lined with pastel treats. Even if you don't celebrate Easter, what's your fave candy?
