Imagine
if you lived in a town where dancing was illegal. No more homecoming,
no more ballet after school, no more spontaneous dance parties with
your buds. Sounds pretty crazy, right? Well that’s exactly what
happens to the residents of Beaumont, Tenn., in
Footloose.
The
remake of the ’80s classic grooves to theaters today, and we got a
chance to catch up with the film’s leading lady, Julianne
Hough. Here, the triple
threat reveals she’s a lot more down to the earth than the diva
that comes out onstage.
She’s
a lot like her Footloose
character, Ariel.
“She’s really
vulnerable and a good girl at heart. She’s just, on the outside, a
little bit crazy.”
She’s
BFFs with her older brother, and Dancing
With the Stars
competitor, Derek. “He’ll
read something very inspirational and uplifting and immediately send
it to me. He’s all about positive thinking.”
She’s
totally afraid of sharks. “You
know when you’re a kid and you close the door, turn out the light
and jump on your bed because you’re afraid something’s
underneath? That’s like what I do in the ocean. I am quite
terrified of whatever is underneath the sea.”
She’s
a total animal lover. “My
two puppies, Lexi and Harley, are with me everywhere I go. They
remind me that I’m just Julianne and they’re just Julianne’s
dogs…and they’re the ones who rule the roost.”
