My friends make fun of my hair down there!

Oy! Besties really are the best, but sometimes you’ve just gotta tell ‘em to mind their own business. How you keep your hair down there (or anywhere else on your body, for that matter) is 100-percent your business.

Pubic hair is totally natural and it is suppose to be there and it’s not disgusting! Your pubic hair protects the sensitive skin surrounding your private parts from getting irritated by your clothes. Trust me, if you shaved yourself bald down there and then put on a pair of jeans, you’d notice a huge difference.

To shave or not to shave (or wax or otherwise remove hair…) is a decision that can only (and should only!) be made by you. What you choose to do with your bod is nobody else’s concern. Don’t feel pressured to change your ways just ‘cause your friends rag on your habits. My advice? Tell ‘em to shut up, then change the subject.

MOD MOD Mod!!!! So I shave my vagina, almost all of it but I don't go in between my thighs and I stop right above the lips or labia of my vagina. But I want to shave everything because I'm tired of being almost hairless and then having some hairs stuck out atough I do trim but it doesn't get it all. What are some good tips to make sure to get all hair only vagina gone and like behind my vagina towards my butt gone with out cutting myself?!?!?!? Also, is it unhealthy to shave everything because my friend said that your not supposed too?!?!? THANKS

Hey babe,

When shaving down there, it's really just a practice makes perfect situation. You should avoid shaving in two different directions, and it's best to directionally go with the hair. If you go in multiple directions, you're likely to get ingrown hairs since the area is particularly prone to them.

Try sitting on the edge of the bathtub, so you can avoid blindly shaving and possibly nicking yourself. Soon enough you'll get the hang of it and you won't need to.

But also should I trim the hair on my inner thigh and lips of my vagina first because I have never shaved that part, would that make it easier, because I usually just stop when I get to my labia.??????? Also, does it itch after a few days I usually shave down there every two day, just to stay clean, I hate being hairy down there, is it okay to shave my vagina that often because I don't want it to each!???? It may itch from the hair growing back in, but if it does you can calm it down with some hydrocortisone cream or aloe.

It's perfectly fine to shave that often! Just make sure you moisturize afterward so that you can avoid any irritation.

When shaving for your first time there, I would trim it down a bit so that it's more likely for the razor to really get the majority of the hairs. Just be careful with the scissors!

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!!! so I shave my vagina. Almost all of it of except near my "lips" or labia, it used to be really long but I trimmed it so it's short. Is it OK to shave everything off like even near your thighs (on the inside)? With summer coming up, I don't want to have any hairs hanging out. But I want to be safe. Also, what kind of a razor should you use to shave pubic hair i just use a disposable razor(BIC) is that okay, or should I use a different type? Please answer my questions. THANKS(:

Hey girly girl! It's totally OK, as long as you're very, very careful. You don't want to knick yourself... that hurts! As far as a razor goes, I'd say a disposable one is fine, as long as you use shaving cream or lotion. Otherwise, it may hurt.

My down there hair is super long and i plan on trimming it!
But i want to shave it but i dont feel i can (im 12) and i dont wanna ask my mom permission
To cuz i know i cant but its gross now and when i get my period i feellike everythings a mess down there

heeey me again my friend slept over my house yesterday and she had white knickers on. she has dark hair (on head) and i seen her hair down there though her knickers when she was getting changed into her pjs we both slept in my bed then when i woke up she was still asleep! and when she woke up we went to get up and she said i think i started my period i was like go have a look then. she said im to scared i was like stand up and have a look i will turn away and she did, she started her period ! and leaked tough on my bed i just gave her a pad she got into clean clothes and every 10-20 mins she was cheacking her pad because she tought it was full !xx Ana D.
