Prepping for "the talk"

During my health class last year, my teacher covered pretty much every awkward thing I need to know about puberty. But my parents haven’t talked to me about it yet. What should I say to them?

Sitting through “the talk” with your parents is pretty much a right of passage. However, since you’ve got the basics down, you really don’t need to initiate a discussion unless you have questions. If you do, that’s OK! You should feel comfortable enough to ask, even if it’s totally awkward.

What to do when…you’ve got a Q

Grab Mom (or Dad, or a trusted adult, or a sibling) and quickly say, “So, my health teacher told us all about periods last year, but I was wondering…” There, done!

What to do when…you just wanna let them know

If the chat was a happened-last-week deal, leave ‘em a sticky note on the fridge (or mention it when they ask how school’s going): “FYI, Ms. Ross talked to us about puberty and periods and things last week.”

What to do when…they wanna talk

Offer up the requisite eye-roll, then let ‘em dish to their heart’s content. You may have heard it all before, but this is something your parents feel they need to talk to you about, so let ‘em unload. If you want, head them off at the beginning with a quick, “You know, my health teacher told me about this last year, but I have a question. Do you mind?”

Sometimes taking about it is easier than we think....

There are a lot of opportunities to talk with our moms about sex. With my mom, since there seems to be a lot of news about sex and teens, when we are together and hear it on tv or the radio we sometimes talk about it. Like this week we heard that teen pregnancy is the lowest its ever been in decades. And then they talked about how many of us are on birth control and how more and more guys are using condoms. So then we just started talking about it. That is a good way to start.

MOD MOD MOD. what is the average age that girls are supposed to know/ get taught about sex? im not sure if i am too young. p.s. not like i really want to know that stuff. it scares me

Hey babe,

There is no average age.  It's really whenever you're ready to learn about it.  Some schools take it upon themselves to teach it in Health classes.

MOD MOD MOD~♥
Okay,so i really like this guy,and I told my bestie, but she asked him if he liked me. He said yes,but he's afraid to ask me out,I Want to ask him,but I Don't wanna seem desperate.
HELP??

I suggest you talk to him. Just casually start a convo and get to know him. If hes more comfortable with you then he'll be more willing to ask you out. xoxo kerra

Hey spencer9800, I think some high schools include sex education as part of their cirrculum. I went to an arts high school but my friend who went to a public one took those classes. Hope this helps! Xoxo
