Halloween candy. It’s all so bright and festive and delicious, and
totally innocent, right? Well, there are a few we think should be banned
from your bucket. We’ve compiled a list below of the most shockingly
scary candies out there—yeah, those ones so chock full of sugar and
calories your walk around the neighborhood would have to be quadrupled
to combat the effects. Yikes!
The famous cookie bar covered in caramel and chocolate can rack up to
286 calories in a package. And with almost 28g of sugar, we’re happy to
leave this one behind.
Although there isn’t much to them, that seems to be where
the problem lies. Twizzlers are made mostly of straight sugar and can
turn you into a dentist’s dream patient. The chewy goodness should be
passed up for a candy with more substance (think peanuts or almonds!)
and a lower sugar content.
With even the Fun Size bar containing 45 calories and two grams of fat
each, the crunchy candy can be a little overwhelming. By eating just 2
pieces, you would have to set out on a 30-minute walk to burn them off
Peanut Butter Pumpkins
The Halloween-themed candies contain 75 more calories than a normal
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Their larger size means more peanut butter,
which holds the greatest portion of calories in the candy. Stick with
the regular cups this year for a more normalized level.
“Tasting the rainbow” can become more like “Tasting the cavities” this
year if you indulge in too many bags of Skittles. Just one serving has
up to 47 grams of sugar. Just a few Skittles can lead to some serious
sugar storage in no time.
