Lose a pound, gain a pound?

 
I’m 10 years old and I just hit puberty. I know you’re supposed to start gaining weight, but I’ve noticed that one day I gain a pound, and the next I lose it. Should I be worried?

 

Puberty is a crazy stage in every girl’s life. There’s really no such thing as normal when it comes to puberty, babe, so worrying about every little thing that sets you apart from the way your friends are going through it or the way your mom went through it is needless.

 

What you’re seeing on the scale, this gain-a-pound, lose-a-pound phenomenon, is probably just slight changes in your water weight. Everyone’s body holds on to a certain amount of water to make all of the chemical processes in our bodily systems work properly. Depending on what you eat and drink throughout the day, sometimes you lose a little bit of water weight, and sometimes you gain it. Dropping a pound (or gaining a pound) every day is insignificant, so don’t fret! Your water weight could vary by several pounds each day.

My parents just got divorced and I haven't told any of my friends yet. I kinda want to tell them soon since it has been going on for at least 5 months. I wanna tell them but I don't know how. Will they be mad that I haven't told them yet or will they sympathize for me?

Hey girly! I am so sorry about your parents. But I do think it is the right thing to do to tell your friends. Dont do it at school or somewhere public though. Have your friends over and let them know that its a hard time for you. They wont be mad once they see how tough this is and that you are upset by it. Like all good friends they will be there for you and comfort you when you need it most.

Hey girl, why not curl your hair or do something a little extra with it? This is your one day putting in that extra prep will make a long term difference.
