Still lookin’ for a last-minute costume? Don’t fret, babe!
We’ve got four fabulous ideas for your big night—and you can snag ‘em all on
the cheap at a thrift store, in your attic or in Mom’s closet. Sweet!
Queen of Hearts
Be the ultimate up-to-no-good gal, the Queen of Hearts this
year. Before you hit the store, check out your closet (and yeah, your sibs’ and
your buds’) for a statement-making red piece, like a fab dress or a cool coat.
Glue a tiara to your thrift store topper (or create one using a glitter-glue
pen or a metallic fabric marker) and add the trademark card to the brim.
Hunt for…a top hat (and anything red). Accessorize with…the
queen of hearts, natch!
Evil Stepsister
Play the once-upon-a-time card, but this year, toss the
crown! Instead of dressing up as goodie-two-shoes Cinderella or
animal-whisperer Snow White, glam yourself up as an evil stepsister en route to
the ball. It’s even better with a bud!
Hunt for…an out-there prom dress. Accessorize with…a few
grotesque warts and huge hair.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Think you can top Helena Bonham Carter? You’ll want to
channel your inner goth for this get-up, girlie. Get in character by re-reading
the books or watching the movies. Stupefy!
Hunt for…a Victorian-style black dress. Accessorize with…crazy
hair, witchy boots and a wand.
Big Bad Wolf
Who says the BBW’s gotta be a guy? Help the furry fella get
in touch with his—her—feminine side this Halloween. Go casual with dark-wash
jeans and a simple tee, but do practice
your very best “the better to see you with, my dear!” impression.
Hunt for…a faux-fur vest, coat or cape. Accessorize with…furry
ears and a party store snout.
