We
don’t know why we didn’t think of this ourselves. Recently, we got an
invite to a healthy Halloween bash at the local Y. Ingenious, right? We
l-o-v-e the idea and have a few ways you can replicate this sort of
soiree on your own:
Make the point of your party known
Let’s be honest: If someone was expected to spend All Hallow’s Eve
bobbing for apples and swimming for sweets, they’d be a bit bummed to
show up and see carrot sticks a go-go. Let your ladies know ahead of
time that your party isn’t gonna be a sugarfest.
Plan some fit ‘n’ fun activities
Your fête doesn’t have to be a marathon, but you should plan a few
active activities. Go to a
yoga class, run a spooky-themed 5K, do a new
workout vid (we heart Xtend Barre’s Lean and Chiseled with Andrea
Rogers), try some
DIY zumba. Whatever it is, make sure it’ll be a good
time and will get your buds moving!
Make up the menu
The challenge? Keeping candy off the plate! But that doesn’t mean you
have to serve ho-hum hummus. We love the idea of a smoothie bar, where
your buds can pick from a range of frozen fruits and then blend them
with yogurt and juice. Or, keep it seasonal with a bunch of varieties of
apples and nut butters. Or rock these
roasted pumpkin seeds.
...or just keep have a pumpkin party
If your friends don’t wanna workout on Hween, why not keep everyone busy
with some serious pumpkin painting? Even if you have some caramel and
apples, it’s better than going out and collecting a year’s worth of
candy!
