My parents drink too much

 
My parents drink too much. I don’t mean wine with dinner. They get mean or pass out when they drink. It’s awful. How can I get them to stop?

 

Dear Bad Situation,

You can’t make them stop, but you are not alone and can get help for this very serious problem. There are many support systems for kids. Alcoholism is a common disease that wreaks havoc on many families. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an organization that helps people swear off drinking, one day at a time. Alateen is part of AA and is for kids who have family members with drinking problems.

 

Visit www.aa.org or www.al-anon.alateen.org. Or call 1-88-4AL-ANON on weekdays—the call does not show up on your phone bill.

 

If possible, enlist an aunt, uncle, grandparent or other adult relative who doesn’t drink to help you confront your parents with compassion, not accusations. Some people throw loved ones a “surprise party” with an agenda. Several near and dear ones gather to say, “We’re worried about you and love you too much to watch you drink your life away. You need to get help.” The drinkers’ first response is likely to be anger and denial. But, eventually, many drinkers become ex-drinkers. Good luck.

Mod Today was in language arts doingy classwork then i overheard 2 rebelious guys in my grade talking about getting high. One of them asked me if i knew what they were yalking about i said, yes but i wont tell any one. He replied " good because snitches get stiches " in a threatening voice. Now i dont want to tell because i am afraid for my safety. But if i dont tell then i will be afraid of what they will do when they are high. Please help me with what to do also i have anxiety disorder/ social anxiety disorder and it would please help if you please look from my point of view thank you sooo much for taking time out of your day to answer my question.

 

Hey girly, just be sure you aren't around them when they are high. It may be best to stay far away from them anyway. They sound like trouble makers, so keep your distance girl. Smile Smile

If they were really serious, tell the teacher. it is not safe or ok to get high, especially on drugs
