Friend's jealous of my good grades

 
I’ve been best friends with this girl practically forever. We were never in the same classes but, this year, we are in almost every class together. It’s great, except she gets really jealous whenever I get a good grade.

 

Dear Down With a Friend,

It’s tough having a jealous friend but, believe it or not, it’s also tough for her being the jealous one. Be sure you’re not boasting about your grades. If you are humble and she still holds your A’s against you, speak up. Say, “I wish you wouldn’t be mad about my grades. I could act jealous of your great singing voice or how well you shoot baskets, but I’m happy for you. Let’s support each other, OK?” 

 

Friendships often go through growing pains but, since you two are so tight, it’s worth working through this.

This is sorta a weird question. So some, (okay a lot,) of kids at school are pressuring me to do something i don't want to do. They are pressuring me to swear. I know, sounds weird. But I am totally against swearing, and almost everyday i get surrounded by a group of kids, pushed up against a wall, or hit (not that hard, but it still hurts) and i don't know what to do about it cause everyone will hate me if i tell the teachers, and i don't want to tell my parents!! What do i do? Btw, i'm in a mixed age classroom (6,7,8th graders, i'm 7th) and most of the people doing this are older than me. Thanks and please respond!! MOD




Hey babe,

You need to stick to your values here! What's the big deal if you don't swear? What will it hurt them? As long as you aren't trying to force your morals on the others, you're not hurting anyone. Be strong and remind them of this whenever they give you trouble. Act confident and relaxed - just say something like, "Oh please, what do you care? Is it really THAT important to you?" Then roll your eyes and walk away. The fact that you don't care and aren't affected by their bullying will really make them rethink what they're doing! All they want is a reaction.

MOD sooo my boyfriend and i are going bowling tonight, but when he drops me off at my house I'm gonna break up with him. i just have to time for a bf and hes to clingy. is this a bad plan?

 

Hey chica, I think you need to sit down and discuss it with him. Explain to him why you don't want to date anymore. I would probably do it the next day when you guys can really talk. Hope this helps!! Smile Smile

MOD MOD MOD!

There's a girl I know that is always putting me down when something good happens, like when I was requested to be tested for my schools gifted program she just said I would fail. She is also doing the same play as me even though she said acting is stupid and overated. I've told her she needs to be more respectful towards me, but she just said that she has no limitations and will do whatever she wants. I've told my parents but There isn't really much they can do. I don't really want to be friends with her considering she's a terrible one to me but I live next door to her and go to school with her, so I see her every day. I don't know what I should do.

MOD MOD MOD!!!!
I have a best friend who is practically an straight A+ person. I'm a good student but I get so jealous of her when she gets a 100% on her tests. I really want to match up to her. I think one of the problem is is that I get really nervous when I take the test and I forget everything. Do you have any advice or ideas on how to make me calmer or less nervous when taking a test?

That's kinda like me and my friends, except we joke about it, we don't get really jealous over something stupid like a grade.
