Bike to a better you

Cardio plays a major role in any girl’s workout, but there are other ways to get your heart pumping besides going for a run. Biking is a great way to get some cardio in without exhausting your muscles. So grab your helmet and pump up your tires– here’s why you should bicycle this fall.
 
Go somewhere!
Sure, you can hop on one of the stationary bikes at the gym, but even though you’re pedaling, you’re not really moving. Going for a ride down a trail or around a park just feels better. Not only do you get fresh air, but you also get to see the landscape around you and can control where you go. Maybe you’ll even discover something you weren’t expecting. After all, you can’t find a hidden trail at the gym, right?
 
Group project 
Biking is great to do in groups, so bring your bestie or make it a family activity with mom, dad, and your sibs. This way, you’ll stay safe (NEVER go biking alone in an area you aren’t familiar with) and you’ll have someone to keep you motivated on the uphills! Research some popular trails in your area and spend a Saturday bicycling instead of snoozing– your bod will thank you!

Who needs a ride?
You may not drive yet, but constantly asking your fam for rides to nearby places isn’t always necessary. If it’s still light outside and you want to jet to your friend’s house a few streets over, biking is faster than walking (and is way better for you than sitting in a car). You don’t have to be stuck inside your house when the ‘rents aren’t there to take you places. Just grab your bike and go!

It’s good for you and the Earth
Biking is a more relaxing way to get cardio. As long as you feel your heart rate increasing, you don’t have to sweat like crazy or lose your breath for a healthy workout. Biking instead of driving reduces pollution and keeps the Earth as pretty as it is. So bike when you can: It’s great for your body and keeps Mother Nature going strong.

Is it okay if I eat dinner a half an hour after I work out?

 

Yes! If your workout takes more effort than walking, then wait at least a half hour before eating. Unless you're absolutely starving, because you should never deprive yourself! Make sure to stock up on lean protein and veggies to really get the best results from a workout.

i walk each week with my friends.... we bring our dogs too! it's fun and i get a mile walk!!!! i get stronger and healthier each week!!!!! try it!!!

Don't feel fat! You can't compare yourself to other girls in your class - you're all going through puberty and growing up, so your bods are all going to be changing a LOT over the next few years. All you need to worry about right now is eating a balanced diet and staying active! <3 Be healthy girl - the actual number doesn't matter!!

So lately whenever I'm in gym and I start working out a lot my stomach gets really cold! One of my friends told me that it means that I'm loosing alot of calories, is this true?

i'm only 9 but i'm fat but not really fat
i wanna swim at the YMCA but when i wear a swim suit, i look fat and i will feel embarrassed
how do i get skinnier? and i'm worried of what i'll look like when i'm a teenager.




Hey girlie,

Try not to be so critical of yourself right now! Make sure you're eating a balanced diet and getting active a little each day - playing sports with friends, walking home from school, riding your bike around the neighborhood, etc. Just focus on being healthy - you have to be good to yourself so you grow into your teens with a healthy bod! And remember that puberty is a weird time for everyone. My bod felt weird going through puberty because it felt foreign - it kept changing so often that I couldn't keep up! But your weight moves around as you grow up, you get taller, and you learn even better how to stay healthy/get active. So just remember that - take care of yourself, embrace the changes as they come, and love the bod you've got!!! <3

I LOVE biking, but I haven't gotten around to going for a ride lately. I'm going to go for a ride as soon as possible! The only problem is I can't bike anywhere because my neighborhood is on a busy street. I wish I could though!

ok i'm having a birthday party this friday and i have to clean the house.
MY ROOM IS A DISATER! how do i get motivated to clean it and what r some ways to make cleaning easier? its a mess! also the rest of the house!

I'd say play some of your favorite jams and dance around while you clean, make it fun! Or you could also try giving yourself some self-reward for getting it done,  maybe have a guilty pleasure sugary snack if you get it done.

My parents wont let me ride my bike without a helmet!! im almost 15 and its emberessing having to ride with a helmet!Frown HELP!!




Hey girl! Dont be embarrassed by wearing a helmet. Even though it seems like no one else does, a lot of other teens do too. Your parents are just looking out for what is best for you and trying to keep you safe. One day you will thank them!
