Attention West Coast cuties: Catch the last lunar eclipse til 2014 tomorrow!

 
Wanna see an ah-mazing event? Stay up late—or wake up early—to catch the first lunar eclipse visible in the U.S. all year long. The moon should start to disappear right before dawn, at around 4:45 a.m. PST. The eclipse will last for about three and a half hours, giving you plenty of time to snap pics of the disappearance, chow down on breakfast and snag a peek at the reappearance.

 

Now if this was an every-day event, or event every month, we might tell ya to wait ‘til one occurs in the easy afternoon hours. But you won’t be able to stand on American soil and watch the moon fade into blood-red brilliance again until April 15, 2014. So is it worth it to set your alarms this Saturday a.m.? Heck yeah!

 

Dial up the fun factor by inviting your BFFs over for a spontaneous sleepover. When you head outdoors, bundle up in coats, blankets and your PJs for some flash-happy amusement. Take pics of the moon, the sunrise and, best of all, each other. Ask Mom and Dad to fire up the grill so you can roast marshmallows. Aside from a slight chill in the air, with your sweeties beside you, it’ll be just like summer, right?

 

Not on the West Coast (or don’t wanna get outta bed)? Turn on your computer and head to nationalgeographic.com to watch a live video feed of the eclipse.

Ugh, I swear, I'm the queen of bad luck or something. I woke up this morning at 6 to see it, and when 7:45 rolled around, there were CLOUDS covering up the moon. REALLY?
