We know, we know: Don’t overload on Aunt Mildred’s mashed
potatoes. Have one cookie instead of a baker’s dozen. But did you know that the real secret to staying healthy this
season doesn’t necessarily have to do with what you put in your mouth? That’s
right, babes. It’s all about being the life of the party. Leave behind your
wallflower ways and take a walk on the wild side.
When you’re excited, your body releases endorphins, which in
turn trigger a feeling of exhilaration. Be your bubbliest self and you’ll
become to busy to linger desolately by the buffet table…and keep your heart
rate and metabolism up, as a bonus.
Yuk it up
You can burn up to 40 calories just by laughing for 15
minutes. Even better? A real gut-busting guffaw is a great ab workout. So brush
up on your bad knock-knock jokes and don’t be afraid to bomb. Laughter is
infectious—if you think it’s funny and start laughing, others will follow suit.
Hit the dance floor
When the tunes are playin’, get your body swayin’! Grab your
girls and get down, you dancing queen, you. A mere half-hour can work off that
sugar cookie you scarfed…
Getting drawn into an interesting conversation is what makes
a good party a great one. Get chatty with your chicas (or a cutie you’ve never
met before—introduction, please!). The minutes fly by and you’ll be left
forgetting about the awesome-looking pizza you walked past on your way in.
