DIY gift guide: Sparkle 'n' shine pillow shams

 
We fell in love with these so-chic throw pillows from Pottery Barn Teen, but at $29 a pop for just the pillow cover, they’re out of our price range for ourselves, let alone the girlies we wanna gift! So what’d we do? Come up with a way-easy (and affordable) DIY!

 

What you’ll need:

A pillowcase (throw pillow size or a sham) and insert (or make your own and stuff!)

Sequins

Needle and neutral thread (or hot glue gun and glue)

 

What you’ll do:

Ever-so-lightly, sketch your design onto the pillow case using pencil. We love "XO", initials and cute phrases. Then, using either hand-sewing or using a hot glue gun, begin attaching the sequins. You want the edges to overlap, so start at one end of your design and continue in as straight and uniform a line as possible. When your finished, tie off thread (or set aside to dry completely), then stuff  the pillow (or zip-in the insert), wrap in tissue paper and gift!

Want more ideas? Try using the same technique on a canvas tote bag (find them at any craft store) or a t-shirt.

MOD MOD MOD Ok so I have 2 friends, lets call them T and A. So T and I had this sleepover planned tonight and I was really excited about it. But yesterday T texted me and asked if A could come. I was put in an awkward position and so I had to say yes even though I didn't really want A to come. So now we have to make other sleeping arrangements and I am afraid I am gonna be left out since T and A are good friends. What should I do? Please dont say that we can all be friends and have a good time cuz I was really looking forward to going to a movie, and shopping plus a sleepover with T. Thanks!




Hey girlie,

Sorry, but I'm going to say it: you can all be friends and have a good time. If you were SO looking forward to that one-on-one night, you should've said so and not let A come along. But since you did, you have to live with the consequences and make the best of it! Just because they're good friends doesn't mean you can't offer your own opinions/experiences during convos, laugh with them, gossip about boys, and enjoy the movie and shopping together. Just keep trying to stay involved in the convo and you'll be fine. You'll never end up having a good time if you keep sulking about the plans changing. Remember that you LET them change, so T and A aren't to blame. Just relax and look positively at all the fun to be had - and then have it. <3 Don't let this ruin your fun!
