Freaked out by the future: My BF is planning too far ahead


 
I really like my BF, but he’s making all these plans—like when we will get married and how many kids we’ll have. I hate it! Can I nicely tell him to stop, or do I have to break up?
 
Dave: He likes to look ahead, huh? Maybe you should go out with your friends next Friday while your BF figures out his retirement plan. Try responding the exact opposite of how he probably anticipates. If he wants city living, tell him you want to be in the Outback. No matter how he interprets this—as the remote region of Australia, a steakhouse chain or an all-terrain Subaru—perhaps he’ll stop making long-range plans with you.
 
Bill: Tell your BF it would be nice to have your driver’s license before you start making wedding plans. Ask him his goals for the next few years (graduating high school, attending college). Point out that you’re both likely to change and grow during that time. If he really cares about you, he’ll slow the pace.

K so Ive been dating this guy for like a month and hes starting to act really weird. He is always mad about something, and hes always accusing me of being upset with him. Hes kinda passive aggressive, like today he was mad because he thought I acted happier around other people than around him...? It hurts my feelings when he acts like this and I dont know what I should do...

okay so im 13 years old and this guy i liked asked me out and i said yes. but the thing is he had only been here 3 months and has had 3 grilfriends each month, they broke up with him and i loved him and we texted alot but never talked at school,and everytime i asked him to sit by me at lunch he said okay but then sat with his friends. so finnaly i broke up with him and its only been about 4 days since i did and he looks at me all day in school and like stalks me during class. it freaks me out! why wont he just move on. oh and i have to sit by him monday in class for this game its gonna be so akward! plz plz plz plz help me!! thanks

It's only awkward if you let it be awkward! He clearly isn't ready to date - now, all four girlfriends he's had so far dumped him for a reason! It's hard to get over a breakup though in any situation, even if the relationship didn't last long. He probably likes you - he just doesn't know how to handle dating you. It's a classic case of the guy being a little more immature than the girl, you know? Try to ignore those glances and, on Monday, don't look in his direction unless you have to. If you have to talk to him, be friendly and act normal (as normal as you can) and relaxed. You'll get through it! But if he follows you around/comes on too strong over a long period of time, it's ok to be firm and tell him to stop. Something like, "Why are you doing this? Please just let it go. We didn't work out." will really tell him that you notice him looking at you and it needs to stop. Personally, I think it'll stop when he finds a new girl to latch onto. I know that can sometimes be a bummer, but it'll help him move on and away from you...which is what you want!

My boyfriend and I talk all the time, and I love knowing that we can have a conversation without doing 'other' stuff... like kissing. But sometimes i get lost in his eyes, and I know that sounds stupid but I do. Anyways, I won't answer him I'll just look at him and he just laughs but its kind of embarrassing. To him its cute, to me, it makes me feel stupid. I've tried not looking in his eyes I've tried being aware of everything, but I can't help it there just so pretty! LOL what do i do?

Megan328, Whats the big deal, you have a BF and you are just holding hands, right? I would say your friends are overreacting but if its more than holding hands than maybe you could be too young for doing what sometimes happens when we have a bf. Just be smart.

That is kind of strange. I would tell him to slow it down, that could be his way of trying to speed things up with you, so I would tell him you aren't even thinking that far ahead.

My BGF broke up with me after we dated for 4 weeks. He claims that he just sees me as a friend. but he has kissed/tried to kiss me since then! How can u wanna kiss someone u only like as a friend? does he want me to be his friend with benefits or something?? im so confused! he told me that its ok to "have fun" and kiss a person or two when ur single. is that right?? i wouldnt let him kiss me at all until he asked me to be his gf. hes afraid of losing me as a friend if we dated and then broke up, but i feel like our friendship is getting ruined anyway! what do i do? I'm wondering why it bothers u.... him planning ahead doesn't mean it will happen. It means he rele likes u alot which is more of a compliment then a foul move. Maybe u don't rele like him u shood look at it as him saying he wants to be with u forever. Maybe then it will be more comfortable Smile
