Beat the post-feast pooch

You spent all weekend scarfing down your favorite holiday foods—honey-baked ham, gingerbread cookies and a pile o’ sides. But today? Today, your tummy is more pooch than perfectly toned. Ditch the bloat and get your ab-fab body back in just a few easy steps.

 

Ditch the salt

When it comes to bloating, salt is your number-one enemy. It may be a mineral, and yeah, we do need some to function optimally, but chances are the food you ate during the big holiday feast was way overloaded with sodium. To detox, say buh-bye to salty snacks like chips and pretzels, and instead go for food that are flavored using spices rather than salt.

 

Say hello to H2O

To flush out the bad and welcome in the good, you wanna increase your water intake. Carry a glass or a water bottle with you all day and remember to sip 24/7. Aim for eight full glasses a day—and don’t fudge it with flavored water or juice! If you need a little tang, try squeezing in some fresh lemon or lime juice.

 

Fruit frenzy

Put the Christmas chocolates way up high on a pantry shelf and close the door, chica. When you get a craving for something sweet, reach for a bowl of fruit, like strawberries or juicy apples, or a Clementine. Still not satisfied? Toss that Hershey’s bar to the side and opt for a square or two of really dark chocolate.

 

Sayonara, soda

Forget the fizz from now ‘til New Year’s. That means leaving cans of pop and bottles of sparkling cider in the fridge. None of it quenches your thirst, and the carbonation (and added sodium and other chemicals) fill your tummy with gas. Who wants that?

ok so im 12 and i weigh __ pounds. im 5'5. is that normal?? ps can you give me ways to get my tummy looking flatter in time for the summer?? i dont have stairs and i live in a busy neighborhood and i can only go if im with my parents or a friend and my sister on a walk. i walk my golden retriver and pug a lot though.

If you have weight questions or concerns, definitely ask your doctor. We're not professionals and aren't qualified to tell you what is a "normal"/healthy weight for your height. (And it does depend on height btw, not really on age.) As for your tummy though, we've def got tips to tone up! So, I'm trying to thin my thighs. I usually do the bicycle and run up and down my stairs. How long should I run up & down the stairs?

 

Hey girly,

 

It all depends on how many stairs there are but I would say somewhere around 10 times if the stairs are not that tall. Keep running until you are out of breath.
