You don’t have to spend your afternoons sippin’ Oceanspray or wading through bogs to get close to the season’s favorite berry. With this homemade recipe—perf for gifts or personal use—you’ll be rockin’ an au naturale runway-style pout.
What You’ll Need:
1 tablespoon almond oil
10 fresh cranberries
1 teaspoon honey
Microwave-safe bowl
Spoon
Fine sieve
Tubes or pots for lip balm (find ‘em at any drugstore)
What You’ll Do:
Pour the almond oil, cranberries and honey into a bowl and microwave for short stints until it begins to boil. Remove the bowl, grab your spoon and gently crush the cranberries. Stir the mixture well, then strain the liquid through a fine sieve to remove the bits of cranberry that remain. Pour the lip balm into the containers you’ve chosen and get ready to go red.

does it really make your lips red like that?
by pranksterqueen on 5/11/2012 10:32:06 AM
Hey Mspenguin76, yeah I'm sure its okay to replace the cranberries with strawberries, blueberries, or grapes. I would eat the ingredients before making the lipgloss lol, but I think it's okay to lick it off occasionally. Hope this helps! Xoxo MOD! MOD! MOD! Is this safe to eat? And can you replace cranberries with another fruit? And last, is there a way to make the color less bold? Lynae P.

Okkkay, some helpful comments- 1) Do not wear white, cranberries like to splatter. 2) The oil doens't mix with the water content in the cranberries. I ended up just pouring it out. 3) Don't apply this without a mirror. The color is hard to distribute. Just don't apply it without a mirror. 4) When you're pouring it throught the sieve, don't just scoop up what you think is liquid. Put it through the strainer. Guess who didn't and found a chunk on their lip? 5) I reccommend putting the petroleum jelly in. It also prevents me from being tempted to lick it off my lips (its so tasty.) 6) I still reccomend doing this... lots of fun (:
