Just before Christmas, Rebecca Sypin and Jane Bingham decided there should, and they started a Facebook page and petition to try to get Mattel to introduce a “Beautiful and Bald Barbie.” Rebecca’s 12-year-old daughter and Jane herself have struggled through cancer treatments, losing their hair—but not their hope—in the process.
When they submitted their idea to the toy company, however, they received a form message in response: “Mattel doesn’t accept ideas from outside sources.” Hmm…
This month, the mission has gone viral. To date, 133, 199 people have liked the Facebook page and over 9,700 have signed the petition, which formally asks Mattel to create the doll and donate part of the profits. While the petition itself doesn’t ask the company to donate proceeds to childhood cancer research groups, the thousands of comments it has garnered show overwhelming support for such a move.

This doll would be so inspirational to little girls who have cancer. I couldn't sign the petition cause I couldn't give away my adress but there are so many things we can all do to raise awareness for cancer.

This is wonderful! I'm all for it but I don't want to give out information! THey should make more Barbies like this. Like there should be a Barbie with glasses or braces, and they should make more that are diffrent hair colors, eye colors, and skin colors. It'll be even better if it raises money for such a good cause!

as soon as i read this i had to sign the petition, my aunt had leukemia when she was about 8 or 9 and I'm sure she would have liked having a cute little barbie just like her. After all, why does barbie always have to be perfect

This is a wonderful idea! Instead of Mattel doing that stupid deal with the Kardashians, who are just....grrr I can't say what they are on here, they should be making THESE DOLLS, or dolls that have other things that may not seem "normal" about them. I'm sure if they had a doll that was say, blind or deaf or had cancer, kids would be more accepting about it instead of considering people with this things social outcasts.

I think that that is really nice. Kids deserve that, for how little we do for them. Go kids with cancer! People die everyday due to cancer. We need to help them any chance we are offered. Cut your hair and donate it. Just do anything you can for them! Good idea, Mattel! Caseysister2001, out!

think this is a neat idea-my mom died of cancer, so i've seen what people with cancer go through, and how emotional losing their hair can be... hope this gets accepted by the toy company!!! fingers crossed

This is a wonderful idea! I just lost all of my hair due to chemotherapy. I have a rare disease known as HLH and losing my hair was probably the hardest part for me. I went from reading styling tips for my long, blond hair every day to having little wisps of hair on my head. I love this idea because Barbie is such an idol, and even bald, she's beautiful.
