Whether you wanna rock a form-fitting tee with your jeans, a body-con dress on a hot summer date or your bikini over Labor Day weekend, we’ve got the workout you’ve been looking for! Bust that muffin top and strengthen your core abdominal muscles with a kick-butt workout that’ll get you in shape in just 30 minutes a day.

 

Cardio

They key to blasting fat is heart rate-boosting cardio. It doesn’t matter if you prefer running, cycling, dancing or jumping rope. Pick an activity and get moving for 10 minutes at the beginning of your workout and 10 minutes at the end.

 

Vertical leg crunch

Lie on your back with your legs straight up in the air. Put your hands behind your head for support. Lift your shoulder blades off the floor, but make your abs do the work! Do two sets of 6 crunches. Not feeling it? Add another set.

Reps: Try 2 sets of 6 crunches.

 

Side plank

Lie on the floor on your left side. Lift off the ground using the support of your feet and your elbow.  Keep your body straight! Breathe normally and hold in this position for 10 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds, then repeat ten more times.  Lie on your right side and repeat.

 

Bicycle

Lie on your back with your hands behind your head as support. Lift your head so your shoulder blades are off of the floor. Lift your left leg off the floor and bend your knee towards your stomach, while taking your right elbow towards your left knee. Switch, and bring your right knee towards your left elbow. Keep alternating sides, like you are pedaling a bike. Do two sets of 10 reps on each leg.

What if i skip a week of working out? Will i lose all my progress?

 

Hey girly, you won't lose all your progress, but you might find that it's harder to get going after missing a week. You're muscles will start to get lazy and you'll have to push yourself a little harder.

Hey girly, the days don't have to be the same. The important thing is that you workout and do it regularly. So if you workout 3 days a week, you should see results no matter which 3 days they are =) And good for you for being healthy!

I need help because I take acrobatics and I need to be able to do a lot of tuck jumps in a row and I also need to develop more body strength with bodyweight exercise. Can you give me links to videos to help me, especially routines that can get me ready for bikini season.


Hey selenahayley, I think it might be best to ask your acrobatics teacher for a list of the best exercises for developing body strength. Since they've been teaching this for so long they'll know what works best. You could also search Youtube for tutorial and how to videos. Just tye in "tuck jumps" or "bodyweight exercise" in the search bar. Check out these articles for bikini workouts and other tips. Hope this helps!! Xoxo

Okay soo I have a county beauty pageant but it's next year in June!!! Do you have any ideas to start working out I have weak ankles&knees so it can't be anything hardcore!! I have about 14 months till then! Any ideas I have a muffin top and giant thighs( which really isn't a bad thingSmile) I want a workout that isn't very hardcore but it works my coreSmile I want abs(I don't need them) I just want my muffin top gone! I want to start out moderatel then go up to more hardcore we have a treadmill and a wii(but it's broke) I go to zumba on tuesdays and thursdays(sometimes) okay that's about it!!


 

Hey girl! That sounds like an awesome opportunity! You have plenty of time to get in shape, so it sounds like you just need to get in a habit of regular exercise and eating well. You could start out simple by walking on the treadmill for 15-30 minutes each day. I love watching one of my favorite shows while I'm on the treadmill because it makes the time pass by so quickly! Getting rid of a muffin top has a lot to do with your daily diet, so try to eat as many whole foods as possible--think whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies, lean protein, and good sources of fats (like almonds, natural peanut butter, and avocados). You can also do some exercises to tighten your core, like crunches and planks. Weight-lifting is also a great way to burn fat and build muscle (which is what you'll want to get rid of some extra flab). Just remember to properly fuel your body because you are still growing and need healthy bones! Regular exercise (whether it's dancing with friends or going for a jog), eating well, and getting plenty of sleep will help you feel great.

Hey girlie,

Foods that are high in iron include red meat (like steak), eggs, turkey, beans and lentils, liver, artichokes, Cream of Wheat and Frosted Wheat cereals, spinach, and rice. As for a diet, try to cut out junk foods and candy, replacing them with better choices like granola bars, yogurt, veggies and fruits, a slice of toast, a small salad, etc. Since you are anemic and have special health concerns to keep in mind, I'd probably ask my doc to recommend ways to diet - that way, you can be sure you're making the right choices and filling in your diet with all the stuff you need Smile

Anything that gets you moving, lets you have fun, and challenges you is a GOOD workout! Smile Just make sure you aren't standing there doing nothing for too long and that you're getting your heart rate up. Don't forget that exercise is only part of it too - make good choices with your meals and snacks so you really get healthy!

Try a mineral based foundation, like L'Oreal Bare Naturale or Bare Minerals powder. They're a little pricey to be honest, but those are great because they even out your skin tone and don't cover up your freckles, like other matte/cream foundations! Try putting a moisturizer on underneath to keep your glow Smile

Do the leg crunches and side planks. And work out on the stair step machine. The more tone our butt is and the more we work out our mid section, they more healthy we will be. My mom and I spend a lot of time on our legs and butt when we work out together.

Running improves your cardiovascular system; so it is actually good for your heart. But you should stretch before and after, according to this article. Here's more info on running and its effects.

Hey 2cute2betrue, the first thing to remember is that it's gonna take more than one day to fix all this, so don't get impatient. You need to start motivating yourself to workout. Put up pics of your ideal body and add music to your exercise routine to keep your energy up. Keep the outfits you buy because they will keep you working towards your goal weight. End your friendships and start making new friends. It's better to have no pals at all then a bunch who don't care for you. Keep your distance from your parents when they're being mean. Meditating might help you clear your head of all negative thoughts. Hope this helps! Xoxo

Hi! I have a really bad life. I weigh a lot, I eat a lot, I can't sleep, and I don't obey my parent's rules a lot. They're mean, but sometimes they can get nice. I want to be pretty, but I am lazy. I'm 13 years old, am 5'4" and I weigh ___ pounds. I feel like that's a lot because my friends who are only an inch shorter than me weigh like, 5 to 10 pounds less than me. I have a small muffin top that I'm starting to work on getting rid of, though I'm not very good at keeping a consistent schedule with it. I feel like I'm unhealthy. I dance 3 days a week but I feel like it's never enough. Am I healthy?

We MODs aren't qualified to judge you on your weight. If you're concerned about your weight, that's a question for a professional - aka your doctor! Remember that weight is more based on height than it is on age - it's normal for friends who are shorter than you to weigh a little less. And honestly, as long as you try to make good diet choices, don't overload on junk food all the time, and get exercise, you're doing a great job! If you don't feel like dance 3 days a week is enough, try going for a jog or playing a game of soccer with friends on the "off" days. That way, you'll get moving and feel WAY healthier...and be treating your bod really well <3

Ok I'm 12 years old and almost 5'10. Im really tall for my age and such. I weigh 128 pounds. I wouldnt consider myself fat but I'm like not that skinny. (I mostly have mucels not as much fat). im 12 years old and small for my age. I play travel soccer 3 times a week and take thirty minute walks at least 4 times a week. I eat healthy, but my stomach and thighs aren't where i want them to be. I work out everyday. My routine is:
90 tummy crunches
40 squat-lunges
60 side planks
15 min. stair-running
I spread out my routine. am i doing enough excersice? I feel like i don't see results. help! Lynae P.

Hey girlie,

Treating running indoors exactly the same as you treat running outdoors! You can use a track at a gym or a treadmill to challenge yourself. Just plan it out - your distance, when you'll speed up and when you'll slow down, etc. Treadmills have tons of settings so you can customize your workout the way you want!

Hey girlie,

Try writing down EVERYTHING you eat in a journal...BEFORE you eat it. It sounds crazy, but it'll make you really think before you take that cookie and put it in your mouth. Don't totally deprive yourself either, because that can make you crave more. Give yourself a couple days a week when you can indulge in dessert or a snack during your fave TV show. But otherwise, make healthy choices - knowing that the journal will always tell the truth. As for working out, head to our Workouts section and scroll through all the exercises we have. Choose the ones that target the areas you want to target (like abs) and ones that seem the most fun to you. That's key - you gotta pick workouts that you actually LIKE doing!! <3

HELP!!!!! i wanna lose around 12 pounds so i can wear a bikini during the summer. i want to do 3 days a week of 25 minutes of cardio and 25 minutes of strength training. then the next 4 days of 50 minutes of just cardio. i think it will work but i cant pick a cardio exercise!!! i want to do biking but im afraid i will only tone my legs and it wont do anything for my stomach which is were i carry most of my weight. i know i cant pinpoint a certain spot but will biking work for weight loss? if not what else can i do? BTW i cant run. Thanks

 

 

Heres the thing — if youre going to do cardio over and over during the week, you do NOT want to do the same cardio every single time. Try biking, then dancing all around the room to your favorite song, then try a cardio tape with Denise Austin (or someone), then try jump roping. As long as you mix it up and try lots of different things youll get some results. The key is to get your heart pumping, start sweating, and get out of breath. Thats what it takes to be a good cardio workout. Good luck! xoxo kerra

PLEASE HELP!!! i just found out that i hafta b in a 2 piece by feb 10, do you know of any exercises that will flatten my stomach and tone my legs quickly? (i have an exercise bike, will that be good to burn fat) also, what types of food should i eat to burn fat? and please dont say that i should just be confident with myself, i REALLY wanna look good!
