Metal Benches -- An original poem

Metal Benches

The metal benches,

Seem cold and unfriendly,

You can never seem to be comfortable,

But I think about the past,

When I sat on those benches,

Cheering and shouting.

My mind wanders back to a simpler time,

When they played,

I remember being cold,

But now, I long for it.

I remember not getting it,

Hardly ever paying attention.

I remember celebrating victories,

And being quiet over losses.

I remember waiting,

Waiting for the chance,

To tell them they were great,

To tell him he was great.

I remember traveling,

great distances to see,

My inspiration,

Right in front of my face.

I remember the lights,

How I would love to see them now.

The metal benches bring a comfort,

Only I would understand,

But of all of those memories,

I remind my self,

All those boys are gone,

Off to see the world.

I wish I could go back,

And watch it all again.

For you see,

I loved him,

Now you're wondering who,

The quarter back of 2009,

My inspiration,

My brother.
