How do I ask my mom about s-e-x?

Check these out, too...

  • 10 things to tell your mom anytime
  • I don't want to leave my friends behind when school ends
  • YOLO or "Oh, no"? When taking a risk is the right thing to do
  • My dad is sexually abusing me. How can I tell my mom?
  • Is there a way to flirt without being obvious?
All the info I get about sex is from my friends. I am scared to ask my mom about all this.

Dear Nervous,

Some moms welcome the opportunity to talk to their daughters but feel nervous about initiating the conversation. It might help to wait until the two of you are alone washing dishes or in the car, and then say, “Mom, this is a little embarrassing for me, but I have some questions.”

You may also be able to talk to your dad, Godmother, relative, friend’s mom or school nurse. And there are plenty of books that address issues about your changing body and s-e-x. Why not browse around a bookstore or head to your local library?

SERIOUS STUFF? For serious issues, don’t wait. Visit our HELP! page now.

Mod.
Hello. I am kind of old to be asking for advice... 17... But i have a question. I will be moving away for college soon, and I have really liked this one guy for nearly 3 years, and I have never told him. I was planning on telling him on sunday, what do you think I should say, and is it a good idea to tell him?

Hey girlie,

There are pros and cons to both sides. If you don't tell him, you'll be able to start fresh in college, won't feel embarrassed if he says no, and won't have to deal with a long term relationship or a "going away" sadness if you do start something with him. But you might always wonder "What if I...?" If you do tell him, you could really feel a time crunch since you're moving soon. He might not feel the same way. You might get to know him and realize he isn't as great as you thought. Or you could finally get together, enjoy time with one another, and leave for college knowing you have no regrets. No one knows how it'll turn out! Make a pros and cons list for yourself to decide if you should do it. If you're confident with your choice, then you gotta go for it! Do it in person, one-on-one. Tell him you've know him for a long time and since you're graduating soon, you just had to get it out there - that you really like him. Smile and laugh naturally to lighten the mood - and relax. If you decide it's worth a shot, go for it! What's the worst that could really happen? Smile

Mod mod mod-My period is Late i always start at the end of the month but i have not had one in january and now its febuary i am worried .??? P.S-I'm only 11 so nothng should not be going wrong

Hey girlie,

Nope, nothing to worry about! It's totally normal for your period to be late once in a while - it can be affected by stress, changes in sleep, changes in diet, etc. It happens to all of us! Just try to relax and it will come soon Smile

MODMODMOD*** Ok so me and my bf made out...or tried to anyways. I didnt know how to, and i screwed it up. He tells me and i dont think he really care, like he will say, i dont think we are ready to make out yet. But im embarrassed that i didnt know how, and people know and some of them make fun of me. What are some tips for making out & aloso open mouth kissing? ALso, how do i get over teh fact that i screwed up the makeout?

Hey girlie,

First makeouts with a guy are always a little awkward! You're still getting to know each other, you're still figuring out your kissing style (and his), and you're super nervous on top of it all. Try to put it behind you and learn from this situation! That will help you shut this chapter and move on. As for the kissing tips, check out these articles Smile I think they'll really help!
