Can I speed up my period?

Check these out, too...

  • I'm only 13--why did my breasts stop growing?
  • Does it hurt when you first get your period?
  • Do guys only care about chest size?
  • I need longer pads! How do I tell Mom?
  • What stinks down south?
When my period comes, is there anything I can do to make it pass by faster?

Unfortunately, babe, unless you are on hormone regulators like birth control pills, there’s no sure-fire way to make Aunt Flo hit the road. You can make the whole thing more comfortable and easier to handle by drinking lots of water, which will help your body flush out everything it needs to. Stay away from super salty food to avoid bloating, and exercise regularly to fend off cramps.

Thank you so much! Btw I still go to a pediatrition(I'm 14) will they still do an exam?

No problem, girl! Smile The pediatrician won't do the exam, but they might refer you to another doctor who specializes in period/"down there" issues. They could do a full exam or they could just look down there - it depends what they think is necessary. But like I said, don't feel weird about it! It'll be odd to get used to at first, but they do it all the time and are total professionals! <3

Sorry for all the questions!
So when you went did they just ask you questions or did they look down there? Because that would be awkward. And what kind of questions will they ask you?

No problem, that's what I'm here for Smile They did both - asked me questions and did an exam. But relax - it's not painful or awkward because doctors deal with this (and much more serious, weirder things) every single day. This is important for your health and you will feel so much better when you get it all taken care of. As for the questions, it was simple stuff like the last day of your most recent period, how often it's been happening, do you smoke/drink/have sex, how often to do you exercise...basically all the stuff that is important for them to know. Just be honest! <3

If I go to the doctor what can they do? Like will they give me something to regulate my periods or what?

Yep! They'll definitely have options to help make your period come more regularly, most likely something to do with hormones. I went because I once had a period for a month straight (yikes I know) and they were able to totally sort it out! Smile

So I get my periods every 2 weeks ( its been like this since nov.) Im confused because, I can't figgured out when I'm ovulating or why I'm getting my period every 2 weeks or so. Here's a list of my periods for jan-feb
Jan 3-8
Jan 17-19
Jan 29-feb 1
Im about to start again!
That's 4 periods in a month and a half! What's wrong with me?

Hey girlie,

You should have about a week or two more between periods - typically, you should get them every 28 days (on average). I would definitely call your doctor to talk about this. It doesn't mean anything is WRONG with you, but your hormones might be a little imbalanced and it could be causing all these extra periods. It's not great to lose that much extra blood (sorry, gross...but it could affect your vitamin levels, especially your iron), so it's worth chatting with your doc as soon as you can Smile

My periods are irregular...like I get them every 2 weeks hopefully that will not happen this month. Well they have been irregular for like 3 months. My periods are light so I don't think I should worry about having a problem like with irregular and heavy bleeding but I kind of want to get on something to regulate my period what should I do?

Hey girl,

Irregular periods can be normal, but you should probably talk to a doc to be sure!
