We heart our jobs at the GL Fash
Department, it's true. One of the best perks is visiting crush-worthy
fashion blogs to stay on top of the latest trends and calling it
work. For Valentine's Day, we're sharing the L-O-V-E and spilling the
stylish sites that have us smitten.
The Cut
New York Magazine's fashion blog is a
site every savvy stylista should have bookmarked. Need-to-know
fashion news? Check. Juicy style gossip? Check. In-depth runway
reports? Check and check. Confession: We click “refresh” more
times on their site than we check our phones or emails during Fashion
Week, pretty much a sanctioned holiday at GL HQ.
Go Fug Yourself
Celebs decked out on the red carpet
usually leave us drooling for their couture confections. Usually.
Then there's the crash-and-burns outfits that have us flinching and
whimpering, “What were they thinking?!” The Fug Girls, Heather
Cocks and Jessica Morgan, authors of Spoiled, answer
that question with LOL-worthy snarkiness, spot-on “well, now that
you mention it” comparisons and can't-ignore style tidbits. “We
really wish you'd look into pants,” they suggest in lieu of leggings-only
ensembles. Can't argue with that!
The Rookie
Since 15-year-old Tavi Gevinson started
her Style Rookie tumblr four
years ago, she's made quite the impression on the world of fashion
and journalism, drawing fans of big-name fashionistas like Lady Gaga.
If the groundbreaking Gaga adores her, you know you need to take note.
Plus, we can't hide the fact that we've been crushing on her newly
launched site The Rookie ever since they gave a nod to a throwback
GL article.
Blush!
The Sartorialist
Don't deny it. You know you're hoping
for a street style photog to snap your cute-yet-effortless ensemble
when you saunter to school. We feel the same way walking into the GL
office, and we hope that famed photo-blogger Scott Schuman will be
there, camera in hand. This jet-setting shutterbug has featured
trendsetting outfits across the globe. Milan, Paris, Tokyo. Sigh.
Scroll through his site for inspiration – just in case you run into
him. Fingers crossed!
What I Wore
Fashion designer turned personal style
blogger Jessica Quirk lives up to her online moniker. She shows off
classic-meets-quirky numbers that make you rethink before repeating
your outfit – no matter how many compliments you got the first
time. One of our fave ensembles? Her Cat Scratch Fever get-up
that she sported on Valentine's Day last year. Any girl who expertly
and playfully pulls off a mixed feline print combo – without
looking like a cat-crazed spinster – deserves our daily visits.
Which style blogs do you heart to
visit? Blog it out, babes.
