I really like this guy, but I always start conversations with things like, "you are an idiot," or "wow, you are strange." I don't know why I keep doing it, but I really want to stop so that he will start to like me!

Sounds like you just get a bit nervous, chica. It’s entirely normal to be on top of your game and then accidentally blurt something out that you wish you hadn’t. This guy gets to you, so generally you can lock up for a second and lose your normal attitude toward him. Instead of being a cute, playful flirt, you’ve taken up the mantle of a different flirt style. Lucky for you, what you have going on here can be turned into nothing more than a little teasing now and then.

Remember way back in say, Elementary School, when the boys would show that they like you by kicking some dirt after you, splashing you in the pool, or calling you some silly name? A lot like your situation, dontcha think?

 

That’s right, babe, he used to flirt in the exact same way. Wanna know why that’s actually an advantage for you? He gets that. Because he used to react to girls he likes in the same way, he’ll have a little radar for when you’re flirting the same way. You just have to hone your skills a bit and then give it a little nudge.

It’s all about the tone of your voice when you say things like that. If you’re leaning more toward sounding sarcastic and you say it with a little giggle or a smile, then you easily become a Grade A flirt. Stray away from any seriousness when you toss out those comments, and don’t forget to throw in some cutesy signs of affection like hugs or eye contact and things of the sort.

ok so i like this guy and he is like my best guy friend! he knows i like him but he has a girl friend but they never hang out! my friends asked him if he like me but he said no and walked away but he acted differently to all the other guys my friends asked! he always talks to me and calls me his best friend and gets my attention and then smiles and stares into my eyes! how can i get him to like me more or does he like me and what should i talk to him about?

Hey girl,

If he has a girlfriend, you can't make a move, even if it seems like they're not getting along. For now, stay friends with him, and if they do break up down the road, maybe you two could date then, but you can't interfere with someone else's relationship. Would you want him to act that way if you were his gf?

Ok,so there is this kid at my school and I really like him, but I don't know if he likes me back. Yesterday we were in class and he shot a rubber band at me. I turn around (he sits behind me) and he smiles and waves and I glare at him. Then two seconds later, we're laughing like crazy. So to get back at him I hit him with a ball in P.E.. I know for a fact it didnt hurt, but he was laughing and saying "he was gonna get me back for that". Now every time I see him he'll stop and say "I'm still thinking of what kind of revenge I can get on you." and then we'll both start laughing. Also, after he hit me with the rubber band he apologized like 10 times and once and a while he will come up to me and say "You remember that time with the rubber band? I didn't hurt you right? I mean, you WERE laughing." And when I say im fine he looks really happy. So, do you think he likes me? Or at least has an interest? Btw, I'm kind of shy and not too good at flirting. Tong

He clearly enjoys your company and likes teasing you, which is a great sign Smile Even though you think you're shy and you're not good at flirting, go along with what he does and try to tease him back/flirt back. This always happens to me. I get so nervous around cute boys that I try to be all tough and I think I scare them off...So i changed my ways. I try to be more subtle and flirty. More boys have been talking to me...some have even been flirting a little...too bad lots of guys in my grade are short... Smile haha

There is this kid in my classmwell more than one and they like me but trust me i don't like them so when they said they likespd me I said ok whatever. They then said really your fine with it?! Ok so today me and my crush (i will call him J) were joking around. I said "j is forever alone!" (jokingly) And he said," But i still have you.." and then laughed it away! So there's this guy I really like in my class, and I was wondering if he liked me too. We almost never talk to each other (both pretty shy and I don't initiate conversation because Im nervous) but almost everyday I'll look up and see him look away, like he was staring at me (this has happened vice versa a couple times). We avert eye contact when we're near each other at any rate. Plus, both him and I share a passion for hockey Smile

If things are going well as friends, why not take it slow and see where things go? It might develop naturally into a relationship, and this way you'll be able to spend time with him without rushing into anything since he hasn't been single for too long. If you start dating later, great! And if not, you still have a great friend!

Hey girl,

That laughing is totally the way you express your nervousness! Try to do something relaxing before you talk to him, like have a calm chat with your friends. Or start talking to him online to break the ice! That way, when you're in person you'll know him better and might be more comfy around him. But these nerves are part of the fun when you have a crush - the easiest thing to do is take a deep breath, remind yourself that you want to stay CALM and talk to him, then actually talk to him. Ask him questions, chat about both of your interests, and don't forget it's ok to breathe. The more you do, the easier it'll be! <3

This could be for tons of reasons - the girl he's dating has a different sense of humor so it slowly changed his, he's dealing with something bad at home so he's taking out his frustrations on his friends, his relationship isn't what he expected so he's not as happy as he was, or maybe he has just naturally grown up a little and changed on his own. Whatever it is, try catching Jake one-on-one and asking him if he's ok. He'll probably say, "Yeah why?" Then you can tell him calmly that you've noticed a major change in his personality lately and you're kinda bummed because you miss the old Jake. You can't force him to be like he was but, if you tell him quietly that you've noticed the shift, you might make him realize that more has changed than he thinks <3

A boy once told me something that made sooo much sense - a situation is only awkward if YOU decide to let it be awkward! So, ok, everyone knows you like him. Instead of letting that make you feel nervous and avoiding him all the time, be confident and walk through school like you own the place. (Check out this article for some quick confidence tips.) Figure out a way to start a convo by asking him a question about something he loves - the sport he plays after school, his favorite band, where he works for his part-time job, etc. Asking him something about an interest is a GREAT way to get him talking! It'll show you're interested in him, have the guts to start a convo, and have something in common! Be relaxed during the conversation, smile, and treat him as if he was just one of your friends. And don't push it - having an AWESOME one minute convo is way better than having a boring 15 minute convo, you know? So keep things short and build up your "relationship" over time by smiling at him in the hallways, chatting more often, talking online, hanging out in a group... you get the idea! Smile

Since your parents don't live together, it's understandable that they might disagree when it comes to stuff like this. But the truth is, you should really respect your mom's decision here. You live under her roof, so she's the one who has the final say... because she's also the one that can punish you if you go against her rules. Makes sense, right? Try talking to her about this again - and DON'T bring up the fact that your dad says you should be allowed to date. Instead, be mature and explain that you've met someone really awesome who is respectful, funny, makes you happy, works hard at school, has good friends, etc. Basically, tell her you're thinking about dating more and more, so you really wanted to ask her if she might reconsider the rule. (And don't forget to tell her that you feel responsible enough to take things slow, never let a guy pressure you into doing something you don't want to do, and treat a guy with respect too.) She might not say, "Yes ok, you can date immediately," but if you approach her maturely and calmly, you could prove that you are mature and responsible... and that age limit might be lowered Smile

Since he's not very out-going, he'll probably be relieved if you make the first move and start convos! So don't feel awkward - instead, use that to motivate you. To get him talking more, remember the golden rule: ask him open-ended questions that require more than a "yes" or a "no" as an answer. Do some research and find out what his interests are. Does he do sports after school? What are his favorite bands? Does he have a part-time job? Or a favorite class? Find out what he likes, then ask him questions/try to talk about those things. Since he's getting a chance to chat about something he loves, he'll probably be more comfy talking! Smile

It's based on how you answered the questions in the quiz. So maybe you're shy because you're nervous sometimes, but that doesn't mean you CAN'T be bold! Hey sparklysharpie, sorry my answer didn't post. What I wrote before was that different guys show their affections in different ways. Some boys will avoid talking to you, and others will want to do nothing but chat with you. Some like to compliment, joke around, get physical by hugging or play fighting. So just pay attention to the guy and see if you can figure out if he's interested. One of the biggest clues is that he will start acting differently towards you. Hope this helps! Xoxo

I really hope you can find them, but if you don't, you'll have to tell your parents -- you need to be able to see, and if you tell them now they'll be less angry than if you wait. As for the test, why not make flash cards or study with a friend? Everyone learns differently, so try different methods and see what works for you. If you study solo and then with a friend, they might have info you don't remember or may have missed, so try finding a study buddy!

Okay so I have a crush on this guy that is a year older than me. Anyway I stopped liking him (I think) because he clearly didn't notice that I liked him but now I like him again. I have liked this guy for like 4 years counting this one. Okay so the question is why am I still crushing on him I mean there is probaly no way he likes me back

There's no set reason "why" you're crushing on him -- life would be so much easier if we could control our feelings, but we can't! If you don't know how he feels, try hanging out with him as friends and see what happens. But if your bff likes him too, that could cause tension, so be careful! Are there other cuties at your school? If you make an effort to talk to other guys, you might forget all about this one and avoid the drama!

So there's this guy that i like and I'm almost positvie me likes me back. He walks with me to class everytime he gets a chance and sits by me everyday at lunch. Anyways, he asked one of my best friends if we should go out and of coarse she said yes. But he wasnt sure if we should go out before high school because it might ruin a perfect friendship. Were in the middle of 8th grade and i don't really see how waiting 6 months would change anything. Is there any way i can convince him we should go out know without actualy saying anything??

If you know he likes you, why not just actually say something? If you tell him how you feel, it will be easier for him to talk about how me feels, too. It can be scary to risk a friendship, but a chance at a great relationship might be worth it! Whether you're in middle school or high school won't change that.
