This year is graduation for the 8th grade at my school and there is always a dance for the 8th grade and I have no idea what to wear! My parents won't let me wear my graduation dress and a have an about $50 budget for the dress and jewelry. I was wondering what stores might have dresses in this price range that are pretty nice?

Forever 21 has some really cute dresses that can go for either casual or formal events.  H&M does too! Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD. so, I used to be signed up for the newsletters -all 4 of them- and then, 3 or 4 months ago, I realized I had stopped getting them. I've signed up for them, at least 5 times, again since them and every time, I use the same email and it says something about "receiving a newsletter shortly" but it never does. What should I do?!?

so theres this guy I like, he knows i like him and we are also pretty good friends, well I thought we were. you see hes almost sixteen and we were chatting on fb andi asked him what he was doing for it. he told me thats hes having a "huge party" and that he would invite me but theres no room. he apologized a few times and i couldnt of gone anyways but i thought we were pretty good friends and i feel bad i wasnt invited. i dont know what to do. i want to tell him but when we were chatting hes like i hope this doesnt ruin our friendship. seriously though, if we really were friends and its a big party, why wasnt i invited i need help pleas

Hey girlie,

I'd probably wait this one out - don't worry at all until after the party, when you find out just how "huge" it really was. Who knows - it could be a sporting event or a movie party, where he was only allowed to invite 5 people but he wanted to make it sound cool by talking it up. If it really WAS a big party though and everyone you know was invited, I'd rethink my friendship with this guy. He did apologize, which is sorta nice... but you want your friendship to be mutual. It's one thing if he could invite 15 people and chose his guy crew over you. But it's another thing if he invited almost the entire grade and didn't have "room" for you. You deserve to feel wanted and included by a friend for sure! <3

There's this guy that i've i had a crush on for a while. He's been showing signs that he likes me to. But today i found out he has a girlfriend. Usually when i find out a guy that i like has a girlfriend i completely forget about him and im like instantly over him. But with this guy i still like him just as much as before i knew he had a girlfriend. what do i do?

Hey girlie,

It's ok to still like him! It's normal to have crushes on guys who might not be single/available at the moment. But you know you can't act on it - which is a bummer. Try getting to know him better as a friend right now, leaving all flirting out of the equation. Then once he's single again, you'll already be tight with him - so you can take things to the next level! Usually, this just means it's a sign that you had a bigger crush on him (and liked him for more reasons) than you thought at first. It's totally normal <3

okay, so me and my mom just had this huge argument. I said that I thought tattoos and piercings on guy were attractive and my mom freaked out and was like, ARE YOU KIDDING ME, YOU KNOW THATS UNGODLY AND UNBIBLICAL, I CANT BELIEVE YOU, and all that and now I don't know what to say, I'm not going to appoligize for my opinion but it really makes me mad that she went off on me when I told her! I really hate telling her stuff cuz she always voices her opinion like its the only right opinion! HELP

Hey girlie,

This is tough, because you're probably stubborn and opinionated...and you probably get it from her! So you're not going to be able to convince her to see things your way. After she's cooled off a little, you could try approaching her calmly and telling her that you were really disappointed by the way she reacted when you said this. Tell her you respect her views 100% but you're just naturally not going to agree with her on EVERYTHING, so you wish she wouldn't freak out so much when that happens. And it might be good to share that you'd love to be open with her about everything, but you're way less likely to be open if you feel like you're going to get yelled at every time. Ask her if there's any way you could discuss stuff like this in the future without it ending up in such a fight.

But with that said, understand that she IS your mom, so she probably feels like it's her responsibility to teach you the "right" things and the "right" way to behave. You don't have to agree with it, but it might be hard for her to sit quietly while you say you believe in stuff she totally does not. Sometimes, when people feel strongly about stuff (like politics or religion), it's best to keep THOSE opinions to yourself so you don't cause too much drama <3

Okay so this may sound wierd but here goes, I have pretty much the ideal ballet dancers body, tall, lean, long neck and legs, only problem is I don't dance! I've always loved ballet, but I'm klutsy so I don't think I could do it! I'v always wanted to dance but now not only am I too old to start dancing professionally (I'm 14) but I'm clumsy and I don't play any sports! Should I brave it out and try it, or just let it go?

Hey girlie,

If you really want to dance - and you'll regret it if you don't - give it a try! You might not become a professional ballerina, but who cares? The point is that you're doing what you love, doing something healthy for your body, and trying something new! That's awesome Smile You could even do other types of dance too, like jazz or hiphop. Give it a try - you only live once! <3

Okay, this is kind of an odd problem. My mom lets my 10 year old sister do lots of mature things that i don't get to do or never got to do when i was her age! like she lets her wax her eyebrows and 'moustache', shave her legs, get lots of new clothes and shoes, and get allowance! My mom just claims that i have 'no hair' and laughs. Seriously, i am mad at both of them. HELP! thanks

Hey girl,

Instead of being mad, tell your mom how you're feeling. Be mature and honest - tell her it might seem like you have "no hair," but your body hair does actually bother you and makes you feel self-conscious. Tell her you don't need tons of new clothes or the best electronics. You just want to be able to maintain your bod a little by shaving/waxing so you can feel more confident, clean, and happy. Make sure you say that you feel old enough and responsible enough to handle these things now, so you really wanted to be honest with her and ask her for her help <3 If you're calm and collected, she'll be WAY more likely to take ya seriously!

What are some casual everyday shoes I can wear to school? Since it's in between winter and spring I cant wear my fuzzy Uggs or flip flops. What would be some cute shoes for right now that go with everything? Thankss!

Hey babe,

I couldn't live without my flats! I have ballet flats in black, camel brown, and tan - and wear them every day. Flats are especially great for in-between months, like March! Mine are Steve Madden brand, which are a little more expensive but fit me perfect and last a really long time. They're super great quality! Target has awesome cheaper options: check out the Mossimo Odell Ballet Flats, which I've also owned and are cool too. They don't last quite as long but at their price, you can totally afford to buy them every 6 months or so Smile

MOD MOD MOD:
I don't have a lot of money in my savings account. I spent it on some clothes, but I haven't even done my Spring shopping yet! What can I do to save up money quickly?

Hey girlie,

Try clearing out some old clothes/toys/other items that you don't use anymore and ask your parents if you could have a yard sale! You could also bring them to a consignment shop and get a small amount of cash for them. Try doing odd jobs around the house (cleaning your garage, volunteering to clean the bathrooms) and tell your parents about your money-earning goals. They might be able to give you $5 or $10 here and there for helping them out - which would really add up! <3 You could also get involved in babysitting or dog walking, if you know anyone in your neighborhood who could use the help.

MOD MOD MOD!
hi! i was wondering how i should get my hair cut. i have darkish brown hair and i wear dark framed glasses. i was thinking a fringe but not too sure if it will suit me! PLEASE HELP?!?
thanks <3

Hey girlie,

Fringe (or bangs) looks adorable with dark hair! And especially with glasses. (It's very Zooey Deschanel, who is super cute.) Check with your hairdresser to see what he/she would recommend. Usually, bangs are best with thicker hair - if you have thin hair, go for a side-swept bang and layers to give yourself some volume. But like I said, the best thing is to find a pic of what you're talking about, then go to the hairdresser for a professional opinion Smile
