How to turn down your BGF (without wrecking your friendship)


 
A guy in my class asked me out, but he is one of my close friends. How do I say no without wrecking our friendship?

 

His Answer: Henry, 15, told us “Just be kind and honest. Lying is the worst possible thing you could do and being rude about it just makes it harder to stay friends.”

 

Decoded: There is no need to come up with an elaborate lie about why you can’t go out, because sooner or later he will find out, and then you will feel even worse. Don’t get defensive either and act like a total brat because then you could even ruin the friendship.

 

Your Move: Let him down softly by telling him that you like things the way they are now and you think that a relationship may complicate them. Don’t completely cross him off as a friend though, keep him around and see how things go down the road. Maybe you will open up to the idea later on and then you know he will be there.

So, I like this guy for the whole year and we are close friends. He is sweet to me and sometimes protective, but it's almost summer and I don't even know if he likes me! My guy friend (who likes me) told me that he told him that he avoided me last time cuz he doesn't want to hurt my feelings cuz he wants to be friends but then when I see my crush he acts normal so I don't know if my friend was telling the truth. Can you help me know how I can tell that he likes me? and how I can get close to him this summer even though I'm going to be far away from him.

The only way to find out is to start flirting with your crush! If he flirts back, then you know that he likes you!

So um friends with almost all the guys in my grade and my friends think I'm a total flirt. I'm just friends with them (except for like one or two) but they always get mad because they think I flirt with all of them and i have told them that I don't flirt with them and so have some of the boys but they just wont stop saying it!! What should I do? Give up on my besties and just be friends with more boys or figure out a way to talk to them(by the way I have tried talking,calling,texting and everything)

 

Hey! your friends are just jealous, so you should just ignore their barbs.

Ookay well this guy (lets call him Bob) likes me. and my friend and his friend were talking, and i guess Bob might ask me out. The only problem is that Bob asked his friend, who asked my friend, if he thinks I would kiss Bob without going out with him. the answer was no, and so now I'm wondering if all he wants is a hookup and will just go out with me if he has to? :/ idk i might be completely wrong but i just want to know what someone else thinks. thank you!!!Smile

 

 I think you are thinking about the situation too much. Push it out of your mind. Deal with it all if he actually ever asks you out.

Hey snoop girl, thank the boy for asking you but let him know you just want to go with friends. Tell him this is your first mixer and you want to enjoy it by yourself. A the dance be sure you say hi and even hold a little convo with him and then go about your business. Hope this helps! Xoxo





MOD!!!! I just switched schools last monday and there's this dance coming up next week called the mixer and a person asked me if they wanted me to go but I don't want to go out with him because that was the first time he's ever talked to me!!! I already said maybe but i want to say no but i don't know how, I don't want to be mean cuz i no how it's like to have your heart broken in a mean way!!!
