7 reasons going to prom with your girls totally rocks

Scoring a date to your school’s spring dance is awesome, true, but there is quite possibly nothing more fun than boogying the night away with your besties. We’ve got 10 reasons why heading to prom (or any dance, really) with your girls in tow totally rocks.

How do I look? Fab, of course. But the best part is that it’s totally up to you. The color of your dress doesn’t need to match his vest and the height of your heels doesn’t depend on his stature. Bring on the stilettos.

Silly pictures. Forget those cheesy prom poses. Funny faces, leaps into the air, your best dance moves—we’re capturing them all on camera.

Open dance card. Got your eye on a few good-looking guys? When the inevitable slow dances are played, you’re not limited to just one guy. Grab a dance with your BGF, your older bro, your cousin, your crush—whomever you want!

Inside jokes. You know that moment when someone says something totally normal, but you catch your bestie’s eye and can’t keep the giggles at bay? We live for those moments!

No awkward convo by the punch bowl. After comparing notes on discharge and period probs, you’re totally over the whole awkwardness thing.

Crazy dancing. Come on, were you really going to bust your totally out-there dance moves in front of a date? When you’re with your BFFs when your favorite song comes on, you can rock it 100 percent your way. Just be sure to clear some space!

Sleepovers. Ditching your date for your girlies once the chaperones flip on the lights isn’t exactly polite. But heading to the dance with your babes and saying buh-bye once the party’s over? Unheard of! Hope ya packed your sleeping bag, sweetie.

What do YOU think is the best reason to go to a spring dance with your sistahs?

My BFF wanted to get back at her ex BF so her, our other friend, and I made up a fake Facebook account acting as her BF. Today, my BFFs friend texted me saying " Jordan I know John is really you, Maeve, and Addison." I sort of had to tell her that it was me, my BFF, and Maeve, and now if her friend tells my BFF she'll get mad at me and hate me and I don't want her to! What should I do? Please help!
Jordan

hey! you should apologize and promise your friend it'll never happen again, that's the most you can do. good luck!

I go to an all girls school and my bestie took a guy-daten(to our shock-horror) and well, he ended up loner-ed with all the other guys in the corner while all the girls danced on the floor to "memorable songs" think: This song was playing when we went dress shopping, my fave song, Allie fell over her high heels during this song last dance, this was playing during TGIF, etc.

At my school we don`t really have Prom except for the grade 12s. But we`re having an end of the year dance but usually our dances are super crowded and noisy. I have anxiety and I really wanna go but I`m scared I might freak out. Any tips?

hey girlie,

I would definitely suggest going with a friend that you know you can count on if you suddenly have an anxiety attack--bring someone with you that you know would be willing to step outside with you if it gets too overwhelming in there.  Don't worry--I would definitely suggest trying it out, and if it's not fun for you at the dance, then just go somewhere else! Have an "alternate" party and just chill at an arcade or a good restaurant with some friends.  I think the best part of these events is just having fun with your friends at the end of the year! So don't let the pressures of dances or people ruin your chances of just having a blast! Smile

mod! ok im 15 i did not think i would face this till my jr year im a freshman. my best friend had sex with her boyfried on 6 months for the first time. i cried about it when i found out and asked my mom for advice she said the best i can do is be there for her. but she doesnt need me there i explained to her why i was upset and began to cry i told her my mom was only a sophmore when she got pregnant and she thinks nothing is gonna happen to her but most likely somthing will. this whole time im balling. and she is just telling me sex is no big deal its just sex. ive been raised in a family where teenage girls who are pregnant would come stay with us and we would help them. its not like i told to not have sex i told her though that it isnt something you can say is no big deal ...sorry if this isnt suppost to be posted i just dont know what to do. im treating her like i normaly do, a good friend. but now every little thing i do she tries to get mad at me for it.help ):

Hey girl, first of all, I'm so sorry to hear about your sitch. Trust me, when I was in high school, I saw that happen to people I knew and I couldn't look at them the same way. It was really hard for me at first to accept. But then I realized it was their decision, not mine, and they had to make the right one on their own. There was no reason to treat them differently; they were still the same person. I think what's important for you to do is a) accept your friend is going to make her own choices even if you don't agree with them, and that's not going to change, b) just reiterate the importance of using protection if your friend is going to do that and let it drop from there, c) stick to your own values. Don't let her change the way you view this; it's the same courtesy she expects from you. Hang in there and know with time it'll get better. It's just about stepping back and letting go.

xoxo

Hey girly! At first, it can totally be intimidating. But I promise, as you get older, it won't even bother you anymore! It happens to all of us, so it's nothing to be embarassed or ashamed about. If you're worried about someone noticing, I'd tuck them under your arm as you walk to the register, or put them in a basket with some other things that you're grabbing Smile

MOD MOD MOD I have a major friend prob. So this summer our band is going on a trip to Cedar Pointe and we get into groups of 4 (along with a chaperone). I have two besties who are kinda fighting right now so they dont want to be in the same group. My one bestie already has a group of her and 2 other friends along with a chaperone. My other bestie i dont know she could be going with another 1 of my Bffs (which I don't know what her plans are either...the 3rd Bff). So now they're wanting me to choose between them. Last year I went with my 1 bestie (who already has the whole group), her bf and his other friend. So i don't know who to pick! Please help if you can!! Thanks! (I could ask my parents and band teacher bout this too because its only between us right now).

Hey girly! This is a toughie. Ultimately though, I'd choose whoever you have the most fun with! After all, it's your day too! And, you want to have fun and not have to worry about drama.

MOD! So I really like Justice underwear, because it's the only brand I can find that actually covers my butt! lol. The only problem is, I feel like I'm too old to shop there now, so it would be really embarrassing going in there to get more. And I can't order them offline because they only have a few ugly pairs in my size... what should I do??

Hey chica, I don't think you should be embarassed.  Underwear is a personal thing, and you should wear what you like and what fits you.  You may be too old for wearing footie pajamas or using a pacifier, but you're never too old to shop where you like. ;)

mod mod mod mod mod *****so earlier today i left this comment: mod mod mod mod mod okay, i need help. my "little visitor" is six days late. . .. help? ****and received this response. Hey chica, it's actually normal to be a little late sometimes. It can take up to two years for your period to get on a regular schedule, and even after that, things like stress or weight changes can affect your cycle. Check in with an adult you can talk to (like your mom), but don't freak - it's probably totally normal. xoxo ****you said that it may take up to two years for it to be regular. I am three years in, and my period was the same exact day of every month for all those months (this is my 38th month). so what gives???

Hey chica, Gosh, I'm really not sure!  It's likely normal, but since you're worried, check in with an adult, and consider scheduling an appointment with your doc.  It may be nothing to worry about, but you'll be glad you checked.  xoxo

Hey chica!  First off, don't freak - either way you go, tankini or bikini, is totally fine.  Why not go to the store and try a bunch of suits on, both styles?  Spend some time moving around the dressing room, and bring a friend (or mom) along for a second opinion.  You'll know the right suit when you put it on. i need help on something please :
ok..so i have this cousin who has a crush on my ..when we are together (we only meet at summer cuz we live in different towns..) he flirts & has always gave me signs ..ok I KNOW THIS IS SO WEIRD cuz we are like cousins and like our moms are sisters ..don't u think is WEIRD Foot ? so anyway ...he started texting me random stuff like some jokes and stuff but the other day he has 'crossed the line' w/ a text so i didn't reply at all (i usually reply him w/ a one-or-tow-words-short texts)..so he got mad & texted me rude stuff like i'm an arrogant person & i'm not clear bla bla & then an APOLOGY !?it's so awkward !! tell me what do you think?& what shall i do next time we get 2ather ? (btw,i know he has a crush on me cuz he has admitted it to all our other cousins & friends..)
thank you for the help <3 Smile

hey girl,

i would suggest talking to him and being honest with him--let him know it's makes you feel pretty awkward bc you are family--and you see him like a brother.  It's just not right and you don't want to get into that mess.  You can always be honest with your mom and aunt if it gets ugly--but I highly suggest talking to him first and being completely honest!

MODMODMODMODMODMODMODMODMODMODMODMODMOD ok so we're moving to California. My mom got a new job and i know that I should be happy for her because she worked really hard to get the job and it's a step up. But she need to go for training in San Diego the before she leves to go start the job. The problem? She's going to miss my 8th grade graduation! It's not that big of a dig. Yeah I got a new dress and stuff like that but I'm not graduation high school. But I still wanted her to be there to see me the last school event with my friends. Any suggestions on how to not be bummed?

Hey girlie,

first of all, congrats on your 8th grade graduation! you did it Smile And of course, I am happy that your mom will be starting something new, and I wish her the best.  I know it is hard not to be bummed, but just remember that the graduation is a celebration of you accomplishments--but you can celebrate anytime!  The ceremony is just more formal, but you and your family can go out again and do your own thing--like have a nice dinner or a little party, and you can wear your same dress!  Just remember family is the most important--and that your mom loves you and obviously cares about what you have accomplished, so show her that you are happy for her accomplishments too (her new job!) by not being bummed.  You guys can have a little celebration for your graduation and her job promotion together! Also, California is a wonderful place--you will definitely enjoy your new home Smile

hey girlie,

I don't think it's rude if you don't gloat (show off) about it--you don't have to discuss how much you are planning to spend, but if the subject does come up, then let your friend know that you worked really hard for the money and you just wanted to possibly treat yourself to something you really want! Have a great time Smile
