Snag our favorite Kids Choice Awards looks

Besides the wonderful musical performances (ahem, One Direction anyone?!), the gross-but-funny sliming and the awesome Will Smith as host, the 2012 KCAs last week had something else that made for an amazing awards show: The spot-on, stylish orange (yes, orange) carpet outfits from our fave celebs.

 

OK, so you probably aren’t heading to an awards show any time soon, but since it’s Easter, what better time to whip out your very best—or at least daydream about the perfect getup for your next family gathering. Here are a few star-stolen looks we’re craving right now…

This girl never ever gets it wrong when walking the carpet. Her look is simple and sweet.

 

Taylor’s dress may be a bit too fancy depending on your event, but this frock from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s line is just the right mix of casual and dressy.

Once again, she is victorious at choosing a stand-out look. Victoria turns the boring pantsuit into a fun, bright blazer-and-short combo.

With such a statement piece like the blazer, you really don’t want much for the shirt underneath. A basic white tank will keep the look from going crazy.

While Ariana’s dress style is more for a school dance than for a family gathering, you’d be wise to steal the pastel yellow from her dress, which totally screams spring. Add the belt and the lace, and you’ve got yourself one awesome look.

Ariana's dress is cute because of the silhouette. The Forever 21 counterpart is nothing like hers. And I'm not a fan of all that coral on Victoria. And I don't like Ashley's dress (what was she doing there?) but I like the affordable version. And I love Taylor Swift!

I like all of these except Victoria's. Sorry, but pantsuits aren't that cute to begin with, and that particular suit looks like the bottoms are age appropriate (but not for an award show) and the top is not.

MOD!!! My parents don't let me exercise inside and when I asked they said they hate going outside.




You just have to be maturely talk to them about this issue. Tell them you're willing to compromise but you want to be healthy - this isn't a passing fad, it's respect and care for your own body. You only get one, after all! Don't freak out and don't argue with them. Stay calm and ask them what you can do to make this work for both of you. Make sure they know you understand where they're coming from, but that you don't want to do something weird - you want to take care of your body so you stay healthy <3

MOD!!! My parents won't let me play outside alone and they refuse to take me outside no matter what and I live in an upstairs apartment so I can't exercise. What do I do?!




Hey girl,

We can understand them feeling nervous about letting you outside alone, with the crazy stuff that happens these days and the crazy people in the world. But try asking them why they won't come outside with you sometimes. Are they too busy? Is there a better time to go for a walk with them, maybe after dinner or on the weekend? Is there a way you could join a sport at school so you could get exercise in a safe environment? Stay calm and maturely work out a compromise with them! <3 And don't forget you can always get exercise INSIDE - try doing yoga, kickboxing, or pilates DVDs. Or check out our Workouts section for tons of exercises you can do anywhere!

I love Victoria but I'm not crazy about her look. I think it was too plain and the shorts were just a bad choice with the blazer. She should of gone with matching slacks and curly hair or a cute sparkly pin.

My mom always goes over the top with gifts. For christmas (I have 2 sis's) she spent about $1000 on EACH of us. I love the gifts and all, but I feel like it's a little bit of a financial issue. We are not at ALL rich. And I feel like she's spending too much. I feel bad because she is spending a lot of money!




Hey girlie,

The next time she splurges on you, get the point across by saying something like - "Mom thank you so much! You really didn't have to though...it didn't expect this, you shouldn't have spent so much!" Keep it lighthearted but make sure she knows she doesn't have to spend a lot of money to make you happy. But if she keeps spending this on gifts, remember that it's your mom's choice. She won't go overboard if she financially can't do it, so trust her and enjoy it Smile

I have to do a class presentation in 2 weeks and I'm super nervous. Everybody in the class has to do a presentation, but I'm still really nervous. I'm very shy and I tend to shrink and stay zipped up in class discussions, so giving a presentation out of the blue when I can't even join in class discussions is really scary, and leaving me anxious. Help??




Hey girlie,

Completely understand your sitch! The best way to beat these nerves is to prepare lots before the big day. Do your research and write your presentation early, so you're not scrambling last minute. Prepare your materials and transfer your talking points to index cards (if you're allowed to use them), so you can practice every day and get comfy with what you're going to say. The butterflies might not ever go away until you're totally finished and back in your seat, but remember to take deep breaths. Remind yourself that everyone has to give a presentation, and they're all probably nervous too! But you've done the work and won't make a fool of yourself because you know this topic. Just take it slow, go through the same presentation you've been practicing, and be confident that this experience will make ya stronger... and better at public speaking! Smile
