Is he flirty or just friendly?


 
What’s the difference between being friendly, joking around and flirting? I can’t seem to tell the difference.
 
Bill: Being friendly is showing politeness: “Hi, how are you?” Joking is trying to make someone laugh: “Hey, what’s with the hair?” And flirting is trying to get someone to notice you: “Hey, do you like this dress on me? Really? You’re just saying that....” Being friendly might result in a casual conversation. Flirting might result in a date.  And joking might result in a conversation, date or breakup. Class dismissed.
 
Dave: The difference is... There isn’t one. That’s what makes flirting so wonderful. You never quite know where you stand. Life would be boring without that tinge of doubt—was that a sly wink or just fluttering to get a lash out of the eye? Besides, if doubts about flirting didn’t exist, neither would Guy Q&A columnists. As for Bill’s hair comment, that’s not friendly, joking or flirting. Take it from a guy with goofy hair—that’ll get you nowhere.

MOD MOD MOD!!!! I've liked this guy since 6th grade and he's suddenly become a lot more flirty;like full-on wrestling me for a swivel chair before the fifth period bell rings EVERY DAY flirty. The last 2 days have been kinda embarrassing for me. Yesterday a guy said that 'everyone knows you like each other just make out already':, and just today, after he had helped me finish a worksheet, one of my class friends asked if I liked him (he was eavesdropping and pretended to ask if i liked her) and when i stammered out no she said why didn't i (i didn't have a reason). I unconvincingly said no both times. He's one of my best friends and he only flirts like this when we are in science, a class none of our other friends are in with us. He gets really shy when someone says something about someone he likes and he always told me first who that was. Sooo...what's going on? Do i have a chance?

You totally have a chance! He sounds super friendly and like he enjoys your company. And now that he's become newly flirty, that's another great sign. That means he's comfy around you! Try returning the flirting and chatting with him more to get to know him beyond it - his interests, hobbies, friends, fam, etc. If you connect on another level, it'll bring you even closer together! Smile And that's the best way to see if he really likes ya and if he'll make a move.

My crush is a really funny guy so I have a hard time tell if he is flirty or friendly. Today his friend made him hug me and most guys like act to cool for that but he didn't care. We are both in the"popular" group at school and obviously i want him to be more than just a friend! help please!!!! And join my club boy probs 101 please!

ok so i know you already know my story from before but i was dating a boy (who happens to be a twin *well a twin-ginger so at my school they're kinda a big deal) but last month he broke up with me because i would say some things that i kinda regret now.. well my question is, is it THAT bad to say wat i said? i mean there was one time when we were hanging out at break and i wanted him to put his arm around me or watever, but he didnt want to, so i kinda said "well a REAL man would" (i was trying to be joking but it came out a little more harsh), another time we were eating lunch together and i was trying to tell him that i thought he was better than me (the number system), so i said i was like a 4 and he was an 8, *which now i KNOW i was wrong* but all he kept asking was why he wasnt a 10! i kept trying to tell him that in my mind a 10 was like Zac Efron! but so yeah...




Hey girly! The truth is that the truth hurts. And sometimes it just does not need to be said. Some things may be better to just keep in your head in order to not hurt others feelings. If you were trying to be sarcastic, he may not have understood and think that you were trying to be mean so cutting back on the sarcasm may be a good idea, especially if you are not obviously sarcastic.

so my bf broke up with me a month ago and im seriously over him (even though i still catch myself talking about him sometimes). But lately i found out that his band broke up and hes not friends with his only friend (anymore) and now his twin and him dont even talk, is it bad that i feel bad? I mean i dont like him and i do NOT want to get back together but i just kinda wish he would at least try to talk to me about it...Another reason why we dont talk is because (1. he doesnt want to talk to me anymore) and 2. hes been texting *and flirting* with my (ex) best friend who HAS a BF!! so her and i "broke up" as him and i broke up...now all the drama is over but im still kinda lost on wat to do? I mean idk if i should try to "make him jealous" like date another guy, or wat? i mean i tried to be friends with him but i guess i freaked him out so now he wont talk to me at ALL and he barely looks at me either. PLEASE HELP!!

Hey chickie,

It's not bad you feel bad! Or that you catch yourself talking about him sometimes. When we date someone, that person becomes part of our lives. So even when you're officially "over" him, you can still miss him sometimes, or think about him, or feel sorry/happy/worried/whatever for him, etc. It's totally normal Smile But he caused some major drama and you don't want to play games with him - don't try to make him jealous, don't check in with him to see if things are ok, etc. You want attention from him, but you don't need attention from him because you don't need all the drama that would come along with it. Instead of constantly wishing he would contact you, do something to distract yourself from it. Join up with another friend and try joining a new activity, starting up a new hobby, or meeting new people by taking a class/getting a part time job. It's not easy to be 100% finished with an ex, but you gotta try to move on! You might not want to be back with him, but you still need him to pay attention to you and make you feel special/needed. But if you focus on moving on by making yourself happy and reminding yourself about all the other possibilities out there, you'll start to depend on him less Smile
